STREAKER Presents:
10 Commandments For Dog Owners
-anonymous-
My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years.
Any separation from you will be very painful.

Give me time to understand what you want of me.
Place your trust in me - it is crucial for my well-being.

Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you.

Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.

Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.

(psst. I'm Getting Duck for Dinner.......)

Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.

Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you are there.

Remember, I love you, unconditionally!

ahem, her cliff days are over. totally.
but thanks to prayers and help her journeys are not.
of silence and revelry
I was particularly touched by the parts about the dog growing old. Last November we had to put our 13 year old part-border sheltie collie, part cocker spaniel, part who-the-heck-knows Mickey to sleep. It was only about a year earlier that I had looked at him and realized: Oh, you're old now. He had been the eternal puppy who never lost that excitability. He would wiggle every time you touched him or spoke to him: wiggle with unrestrained joy.
Mickey was a good boy, a good companion, a well behaved dog and a patient soul. The day we took him to the vet for the last time I had not expected to be putting him down, though I knew it was coming soon. When the vet said it was time I sputtered: "What happens if we don't put him down now?" He said: "Then he'll die."
It was sad, but he is out of the pain that was becoming more of his life. He now sits in an urn in our living room.
(And don't worry 'bout the border; I got her into Mexico TWICE)
Blessings,

Interview went good I guess, sort of; Boss said if I'm still available in the spring they'd love to have me. But thewy're not filling the position until then.
Next interview, today at two, but the plant I'm interviewing at is 300 feet from my front door.
B. Re: Buffalos. It's always good to get your hoof in the door and have backups. I'm sure you know that. Not too sure why you want to be a bison but that's a question for another day.
C. 300 feet from your front door?!? If you get the job, hurry and move further away!
My prayers continue...
*hey~who's the blond?*
=D
:+)
She is a very lovely lady.
I sure hope she can ramble with you again.
Thanks for all the lovely photos. And, for sharing her with us all this time.
Luv her!
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Ha ha... I was going to say, "Streaker is part human!" But in print it doesn't quite sound like the compliment I mean it as!
She looks so smart. And so loved.
