I was just watching the 11 oclock news.  There is a new trend amongst parents.. All you mom and dad's out there are going to love this one..

 

People are having "swine flu parties".  That is  where someone is infected with the flu and they have a party.  They share cups, no washing of the hands. 

 

The purpose of this party?? they think it is better for this kiids to have the mild infection then to get it nastier later in life..

 

okay my thoughts, the people are flippin' crazy.. There is no  way in he** i would intentionally take my kids around someone with swine flu..

 

okay would you attend this party???

The biggest problem with this is that the flu mutates every year. Having it this year doesn't make them less likely to have it next year or ten years from now. It isn't like the Chicken Pox.

Why does this not suprise me.

I was at Walt Disney World this weekend, staiding in line at Monsters Inc., and there was a family wearing 'masks', someone made a comment about the people having "swine flu" and the mom said ....'well we're not contagious if we are wearing masks, we are almost over the flu.

BTW they looked like they were going to pass out.

What?? Umm let's see go to WDW and possibly infect thousands of people ...or change my travel dates....uummm what shall I do??

My wifes family think we are nuts because we avoid her brothers house when they are all sick.

Why would I want to risk my child getting infected with who knows what and we have no healthcare so every Dr visit costs us which at the moment is not a good thing.

When i was a kid , late 60's early 70's, my mum did stick me in bed with my sister as she had something (chicken pox i think) and we both got it done and dusted at the same time.

I am guessing that is where the idea for the swine flu partys come from, they are not the same things folks!

I remember that they did something along these lines with some childhood diseases like mumps and chicken pox years ago before they had the vaccines, and maybe even after they did, I'm not sure. No, it's not something I would do.

That's stupid. No, I wouldn't go to those parties because I can't afford to miss work. Also, don't they know that they're contagious before they get the flu and are probably spreading it around to everyone else without knowing it.

Do they think it's chicken pox? I could see it being the case with chicken pox because it's better to get it as a kid than as an adult. Plus you only get it once. It's not the same with the flu. Just because you get it one year doesn't mean you won't get it every year after that. Crazy people!

I had not heard that....I do know it's been done with chicken pox. I will admit that I tried and tired to get my daughter to contract chicken pox. BUT we had medical reasons why Angela had to get them.

Not so long ago, parents deliberately exposed their young children to chicken pox so they wouldn't get it once they got into school. Now there is a vaccine, but I would never have exposed my child to any disease. pif
