Grrr... I am mad right now..

Okay today has been frustrating.  I have been having an issue with Braydens teacher.  This is the 2nd time it has happen, I send something in his backpack and for what ever reason they don't take it out.  The 1st time it happen it was Picture day and they did not take his picture.  Today they have something call "socialization Friday" at his school I filled out the slip of paper on last Thursday and made sure to put it right back in his back pack so that it would be there monday, and Brayden came home from school and it was still in there.

 

The note I got back stated her para did not check the bags good enough.  Well I guess I could see her having an off day maybe once, but twice? I mean think about it, what would happen to you at your job if you did the same mistake twice? Wouldn't you get chewed out by your boss?  Well all I got was well I will talk to her. 

 

At this point, I have no clue how to send in  his stuff.  I mean for the picture day I save over 3 weeks to get them.  The funny thing is Briannes teacher go her and I put hers in the same spot as I put his. 

Anyways, I had to vent. It gets to me that this keeps happening, I mean what if next time it is something that she needed signed and filled out and needs it by a deadline? I mean is she going to expect me to drive it up to the school???  I am also nervous because picture makeup day I have to send in the money again in his back pack, I am worried that we will miss pictures because of this para...

I would call up the school and have a discussion with this educator's negligence in the case of your son.

I agree. I've worked in the school system for many years. Once is an oversight, twice is an entirely different manner. The book bags should be placed in one area and emptied first thing in the morning while the roll call is being done and the lunch list. It's not fair to the child or to you to do what is expected on your end only to have the people in charge fail on their end. How can they teach the children to be responsible if they are not responsible themselves?

The day before the money is due call the office and tell them you are sending the money vis the bookbag and would they please inform the teacher of his class to make sure she gets it.

Maybe make one of those things for around his neck like they have for your airline ticket passport. Then maybe the teacher can see it..
I remember when we were in kindergarten some of the kids got notes pinned to their shirt to go back and forth from home and school.

I remember those days. I was volunteering at my son's school everyday helping the teacher. Next thing I know, he gets a C in reading. My son is not and never has been a C student. So I asked why. She said, he's not turning in his work. He stuffs it in his desk. He was 7 years old. She couldn't have mentioned it to me while I stood in his classroom everyday. It didn't go well for her butt.

you used to be a teacher right? I know it is only pre-k, but when you taught did you actually check the bags yourself? or did you have a para do it? I guess what I am trying to ask is if your para did this to you what would you do or say to them?

My suggestion is to make a manila folder, have it laminated so that it won't rip, Put Brayden's name and "Daily Mail, Please check". Tell the teacher to send everything home in the folder and she should check the folder everyday for incoming mail. Hopefully this will help. We use to do this at our elementary school.

that is a great idea, I will get a folder and do that... it is just getting on my last nerve and i am not sure if we will get pictures this time

dd, good idea. I had a folder for my son with notes back and forth...and if it was important I called the teacher in the am....but then again, my son went to a private school where there was only ten students in his class, so had great communication with his teacher. (same one for six yrs)

Ok, Nellie and Doxie Lover... I am a fraidy cat! and am proud of it. I watch scarey movies in the daytime only with my hands over my eyes...humming all the way. the eyes in Nellies "eye-con" go right through my soul. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH blood curdling scream.

Our kids have special binders they have to bring in there backpack everyday to get checked there is a special note place to write them back and forth.

I dont know what is going on these days. When my son was in kindergarten, it happened a lot too. I guess it is a thing with these teachers and they always get paid.

The fortunate thing was that i had the number to the school and the teacher, so, i called ahead of time to check my son's bag or take anything i send with him because kids dont always remember, which is normal. Didn't the school give you the teachers' numbers and the principal's?

Now that he is in Elementary, they have files and the files are checked everyday. So, i put anything i want sent to the school there cos i know it will always be checked.

That would tick me off too. I correspond with my son's teacher by notes in a folder. The folder comes home on Monday and back on Tuesday. If there is anything in between, there is a parent mailbox in the classroom to drop notes in (every parent HAS to walk their child to class every morning.) or email.

I would say that you need to hand deliver the picture money next time. Do they do a yearbook? If so, I would really be mad, because at the elementary school where I volunteer, those kids whose pics aren't taken on the first pic day...don't get in the yearbook because of deadlines.

Simple: make up your own 8x5 inch 'teacher sign sheet' with a row of stars across the top and stickers down the side. Little lines across the page where you can date, and the teacher signs when she gets the note, money, etc.
Then tell Brayden he gets a prize every time he brings the sheet back home signed by the teacher that day. Now HE won't let the item sit unchecked in his backpack, that's for sure!

since this is pre-school, it is not the responsibility of the child to remember items in a schoolbag. if you give that responsibility to brayden & he does well with it; you should mention to the teacher that a 4 y/o is more responsible than her para. sorry, i have no tolerance for incompetence in school employees.
as a former school employee; we used to make phone calls to parents if an envelope wasn't found on picture day. we also had a sheet that needed to be signed & sent back to school saying either yes or no to purchasing pictures. that note was due a couple days before picture day.
are there any other parents having issues with things not removed from their child's bag? yes? the teacher needs to deal with it before she has a bunch of parents calling the school. no? ask the teacher to check brayden's bag everyday herself if her para can't do it efficiently.
when i first read this, i thought put one of those orange flags on his bag like you see people riding a bike have. a bit extreme i know!!! but i bet the para would be able to see it!!! ;)

the 1st time as far as I known it was just brayden... yesterday the email I got back from the teacher, was she did it to a bunch of kids, I will forward the email.. I am just to the point where I want to smack the teacher/para...

Thanks for reminding me...tomorrow is picture day for my daughter....

The same thing happened when my kids were little. If it's important, then I'd suggest pinning it to your son's shirt.
