NEED SUGGESTIONS FOR FREE ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE....

i can't afford to buy it. i had mcafee but i have been running it for 6 mths and each time it has shown nothing...i had spybot and malwarebytes and they were good but i think i need something a bit better. they r not finding and trogans and i know i have something in my system. i tried to download avast free but when it gets to the end of the download, it says it was terminated. i did disable my firewall and that did not help...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you for the help. i even tried to look at older posts

I use AVG. There is also a forum for help in computer problems that I like. Its called PCPitstop

I loved the McAfee but when I closed my Cox account it was closed with it
I'm using the free Norton trial that came with my laptop but after the 90 days I won't have any choice but to go back to AVG since I can't afford to pay.

i downloaded the free trial of norton but it was not updated for 271 days and they would not update it cause it was free. so i just downloaded avg. it's a shame cause i really wanted to try norton too!

I use the Free version of AVG & have done so for the last 2 years. Just make sure you uninstall whatever you currently have before you DL & install something new. I also recommended Malwarebytes & Adaware.

thanks netty. i did just that. i'm going to try adaware if i can find it but i will re-install malwarebytes too!

I've used AVG, but I don't think they're as good as McAfee.

I got viruses while using AVG Free. Our computer guy put Norton professional version on ours but it's super expensive. mcAfee didnt' work either

If you have a PC, you should try the Malware removal from Microsoft.
It's not really a software type...its a Microsoft update that comes out monthly, that you run on your computer.
