My Friend, The Poet
©09 Robert C Burnham
my poetic brother Ku, I speak of you
(reflections of Michael Denis, born 09.27.1729)
My friend, the poet
Chooses each word with precision care
Crosses the cosmos from a wingback chair
Confronts blasphemy, dissent and discord
Christened in knowledge, by the Lord
The poet, my friend
My friend, the poet
His imagery is never staged
Honing us to reality engaged
Heightening our desire to read
Humbling our emotions to bleed
The poet, my friend
My friend, the poet
Champions causes others avoid
Challenge him, he’s not annoyed
Chiseled pen – sharper than sword
Coruscated heart is his reward
The poet, my friend
My friend, the poet
Taught by the ancient of days
Testimony beset against evil ways
To rapture for us - piece of mind
To make life a little more - defined
The poet, my friend

God be with him.
I love the poem. I've missed your poetry. I decided if I came back to Gather to read and not write I may be able to control the amount of time I spend here. :)
Kushal, I know, does this with his gentle, mighty words. I am not familiar with the works of Michael Denis. I guess I have some reading to do.
Good work.
very nice....thank you
Kushal is also an inspiring writer. Blessings to you both! Hugs, Cynthia
FABULOUS line!
This was great, Robert. I really enjoyed reading it-- the comments too! :)
Kushal, well deserved
(and the other way around :)
well as KP. You both have marvelous words that flow from the pen.
As for Michael Denis, I'm not familiar with his works.
Hugs n Love, Barbie
This is perfect and fits you both. Ku, you so deserve this and so do you, Robert.
