As some of you have been following along, during the weekend of the 11th, we went on a little "getaway". This is the last day of that weekend....
After a soggy Saturday, we awakened to cooler temperatures and sunny weather on Sunday. Although it was the last day of our weekend getaway, we wanted to make the most of it. We checked out of the Gibson with promises to return and made our way down Highway 98 to Pt St Joe State Park (formal name: St Joseph Peninsula State Park) .

This park is one of my favorite places along the Florida Panhandle. I love camping, kayaking, and fishing here. This is one of those places that calls out to you and you long to return time and time again. It's away from all modern things and you are one....alone with nature.

The beauty enters through your eyes and ears, then seeps to your very soul....encompassing your being. The serenity and peace becomes a part of you.

Here are more pictures and the freewrite from Sunday:

Sunday ~ September 13, 2009
The freedome alone is worth the drive. The salty sea air and soft sands make me feel free. I miss the beach sso much. I wish I could come back here more than I do, or beter yet...become a full time beach bum. I miss the beauty and peacefulness of Pt St Joe. "Salt Life" is the perfect description of it. I could happily spend my days walking the shoreline and listening to the surf.
I'd rather be there in a storm than in Alabama on the sunniest day. Isn't that sad? I miss it so much and long to return...
The weekend was so much fun, yet had to end too soon. I didn't want to come back here. But for now, I have to do it. Maybe one day in the near future things will change where me and Allen can find that perfect little beach house. Then we will be able to walk the shores and get wet as much as we want.

Later in the afternoon, the storm clouds began building and we began our journey home.

On the way, we crossed a river and I could not help but get a shot from both sides AND a shot of the mighty tree which had given up the fight and fallen.....

Thank you for posting your photo at Pretty Pictures.
Thanks for posting this to River Magic
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Oh my! Was Renda hunting with such a thought?
Bill ~ LOL! Those thoughts didn't cross my mind at the time, but now that you've mentioned it....mahahahahah.
However, I do wonder if you wear green and think green and believe in global warming??? I mean that fallen tree is not green. so it ain't taking gas (from bean eaters) out of the air. Did you take this tree home and dispose of properly? You might never have to buy toothpicks again: That is if you were green or wore green on the day these photographs were taken.
