A pet story
Let me start by saying that when my son told me he had rescued a rottie I was not exactly thrilled, envisioning the worst. (For me - not for him or the dog - my son is an animal magnet, every critter loves him)
The first day he brought her along, he left her in the car until I came out to greet her. We took her for a walk around the garden, me stressing out about possible annihilation of my veggie beds and flowers.
I could tell that she was totally fixated on Markus and the bond between them was tangible. It was like she understood what Markus and I were to each other.
As rotties go she is on the small side, weighing in at only 90 lbs. I can't explain it, but within 15 minutes she won my heart, we felt safe with each other. I've never met a dog like her before in my life.
As he left that first day I told him, 'If you ever need a place for her to stay, bring her over." He was a long haul trucker at the time and took her on the road with him.
A dog's life
Sammie is a pure bred Rottweiler. The original owner had entered her in a dog competition, when she didn't take first place he beat her and chased her out into the road to get hit by a car.
Someone took the injured dog to the vet, who recognized her and called the owner who said, "I don't care what happens to her, I don't want her back."
Since then Sammie has received training and certification for dogs who visit nursing homes and she is the most loving and gentle creature imaginable.
Sammie is getting on in years, battling with arthritis, but she has found a good and loving home with my son.

She is the best dog ever:)
Sammie is beautiful and your son looks like a proud daddy.
The other one, a fawn colored one named Willhelmina (normally answered to Willy or Billy - but if you called out Willhelmina, she KNEW she was in trouble) - was quite mischievious....
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
my bears said they would like to play with her... LOL....
your son is very handsome... hope you are doing well...
i'm gonna be a gramma in about 3 months... yippeeee...
I'm so jealous - I'd love to be a grandma too:)
IT is horrible what has happened to her.
I am glad she has found a safe home
I'm amazed that a mistreated dog EVER learns to trust people again but sometimes they can be more forgiving than people. I can understand why that rottweiller stole your heart!
