The weather stripping around the front door is worn down
about halfway across the top of the doorway. It needs to be
replaced, but it costs money to go buy new weather
stripping. Plus it costs for the gas to drive to the store and
back. I have to save money everywhere I can these days.
So I got out some leftover cotten batting and some old
fabric. I put the batting between 2 wide strips of fabric
just like I would when I make a quilt. Then I folded the
fabric over so the batting wouldn't show and super glued
it to the top of door to block air.
No one can see my fabric-fix and it works.
I can't see light coming through anywhere along the top of
the door now, so that should help lower my utility bill.
It was hot again today and I've already noticed the air
contioner isn't running as much as it has been.

I measured the width of the door, cut the fabric and used toilet tissue rolls as a measure and stitched two tubes or channels in the cloth which was folded in half lengthwise. I put a small dowel in one channel and the TP rolls in the other after sliding the clothe under the door. Now the outside side of the door got the dowel and that locks the hall side and the larger TP side forms a round snake like barrier to hair and other stuff.
When it wares out it is no biggy I just make another.
Good stuff granma gran!
