If you like Civil War history, or if you like ghost hunting, this is a place to check into.

Locality: Rockingham County

The museum is located in a house that served as the headquarters of General Stonewall Jackson during the beginning of the Shenandoah Valley Campaign. The exhibit features many items from the Civil War era and some articles belonging to Jackson.
My paranormal investigators group, Supernatural Investigators of Virginia (SIVA) had two separate opportunities to investigate in the museum. The first time, was rather uneventful, although we did manage to capture a couple of EVPs, such as Hello, Let's get out of here.
The second night there, it was stormy and thundering. Maybe the extra electrical charge prompted more spiritual activity, but it was more interesting for us. One of our junior members heard a sigh and it was captured on our recorders. Anne and me were sitting in the room that Stonewall Jackson used as an office. We kept hearing bootsteps in the corner as well as another large noise. We were never able to figure out the cause of it but both noises were recorded also, as well as a tapping noise on our recorder. I was able to determine all of us were congregated in the parlor at the time the tapping occurred. Anne was certain she kept seeing a large shadow in the corner of the room we were sitting in. We constantly run our recorders, so we started discussing pies, since any Civil War soldier had to love pie. After that conversation ended we captured the EVP in a male voice "Bring me pie". We occassionally would smell gun powder. Could it be residue scents from the storm outside? Downstairs we could smell roses. We did figure out there was at least one floral air freshoner in the house, but it wasn't roses. At one point in the palor, the smell of both gun powder and roses joined us, and the room went icy cold. We never did catch any video of anything and didn't get many EVPs but we felt we may have been joined that night by the spirits that linger.
If you can set up an investigation, it is an interesting old building and a quaint small town museum. My advise though is to bring pie.
