Looking for something FREE to do this weekend?
Well... September 26th is National Public Lands Day and entrance to all 391 national parks is free!
Although this is a nationwide event, each park is uniquely customizing its activities to address its specific needs and to honor the work of local volunteers, friends groups and park supporters. Additionally, participating partners including Merrell, Unilever and others, will honor the day through special in-store events, park activities and more.
If you miss the sneak preview, then it will premiere on September 27th on PBS. It's a 12-hour, six-part documentary series that traces the birth of the national park idea in the mid-1800s and follows its evolution for nearly 150 years. The film chronicles a century of giving that created national parks from southern Florida to the frozen tundra of Alaska, from the rocky coast of Maine to the volcanic Hawaiian islands. Told through the stories of the people who helped create them and save them from destruction, it is both a biography of compelling characters and of the American landscape.

But we love National Parks -- we bought the Passport and have stamps for several, including from Philly and Seattle.
