Must be nearly pay day

Being self employed is weird, on Monday I was going bonkers in the depths of "what the heck and I doing" and thinking we were going to need to dip into our savings to pay the mortgage this month.

Thursday and friday come.. I have earnt as much in the last 2 days as I have the rest of the month and I even got $200 sent to me by someone who said that a few months ago I helped him with some stuff for free and he just got his 1st paying customer and felt he should give me something!

I dont know if it is because it is nearly pay day, or what is going on, it is strange. I have given up trying to work it out, I am trying to just go with lifes flow. I figure if I keep working then some of it will pay off and more time spent worrying about it is less time moving forward.

Working for yourself is definitely not for the faint of heart!

That's for sure. Not knowing when the money will come in for your bills to be paid is somewhat of a mental challenge to overcome, but working for yourself also allows you to earn extra when you need it(at least in theory).

Know that one Paul, my husband worked for himself for fifteen years, lots of feasts and lots of famine, but we made it, and so will you, best of luck to you.

My father was self-employed until I was around 19 or 20. It was a constant feast or famine way to live many of those years before it leveled out. But worth it, I think. Good luck.

I couldn't do it. Well, I still do a little, but in addition to a 'real' job and school. It may take more time, and I might make less money at home, but at least I have my back up plan in place and more than one option to draw from. It also helps that I now have a laptop... thus 'working from home' doesn't actually have to be 'at home'.

I was self-employed for about two years and it is truly feast and famine. During good times, I was too scared to spend any money because I didn't know when the next dry spell would hit!

One thing we did which I am so thankful for now is that when we had good times we put a lot of food into our storage room, it has taken 3 months but we are going through it.

One thing is that you tend to buy a case or two of something and then when it comes time to use it you realize that actually 3 cases of peaches isnt really going to fill you up. It does mean that we have something for after dinner though.

I have never been self employed. I had a good paying job when I was in the work force and it was also one I liked, so I was one of the blessed ones. Lots of people have jobs they hate and that is sad, but it's a job. I'm glad your income is picking up and I hope that it will be even better tomorrow and better than that every day there after.
