Mentally ill son kills parents, cooks pa’s head....

I was actually shocked when i saw this news yesterday in the tv. The news was about a 25 year old mentally illed son who killed both his parents with an axe, he chopped his father's head off and boiled it in a cauldron where he put salt and seasoning and then tasted it.
It seemed too harsh and just too much for parents to deserve such kind of treatment.
Today i heard lots of people talking about this incident, some were saying that this child should be executed and some also said that he would be better off in a mental hospital.

What do you think should be done to the child commiting such inhumane act?
Should he be executed or be better off in a mental hospital?

Mental illness is not something that can be controlled. It is possible that the son was not on medication when he committed the act. He belongs in an institution.

25 is not a child. He is a mentally ill adult and they will probably institutionalize him for the rest of his life. It's a horrible thing to have happened. Sometime we try to protect our mentally ill off spring from institutions but sometimes thats where they should be for the safety of all others.

I have to agree with this. It's so hard to face reality when it means our child or someone we love cannot function in society. At 25, he is not a child and if he has killed once, no matter what prompted the killing, he would do it again.

Agreed. And lifetime institution would also protect the patient. If/when someone is aware of what they have done, it is devastating and could either precipitate another event or danger to himself.

I agree with Lee P. He is not a child, even if mentally he is. He probably didn't know what he was doing. I don't know how, but he needs help. If he doesn't comprehend what he did, they can't punish him as if he does. At the same time, He can't be left unpunished. I think a high security mental institution is probably best.

maybe be a child mentally but that's it as far as the law

There is a woman in my area who has two or three mentally ill adult children. They try to attack people, scream at children and need full-time staff to keep them under control. She won't put them in a hospital (which they need) and one day they will probably do something sick and awful which will hurt others, maybe kill someone and will put them away for good. It's sad that it will take that to get them out of her home but if they tried before anything bad happens she will fight until she wins.

You can't kill someone with a mental illness like that.

I have no problem with him going to a mental hospital, as long as its for as long as he would have been in jail, more likely life, and he doesn't get any days off to go to the county fair.

A truly unfortunate story. I am unfamiliar with the mental health system in the country where it took place but the article stated that this individual had been institutionalized in early 2000 so hopefully they will be able to get treatment for him again and he will be able to serve his sentence undergoing the treatment that he needs.

This is absolutely horrible! That person, it sounds, should have been institutionalized long ago........it just makes me sick to read things like this. I suppose the parents just didn't want to admit there son was mentally ill and so just let him live there at home.

Why was he kept at home in the first place? Did they think they could take care of him or what? Sometimes some parents do silly things and bring ill luck to themselves. he's an adult for Christ's sake and should have been the property of the state for a long time.

So sad.

I believe once he did that he could be capable of anything. I don't think he should be put in Jail because he seems to be really mentally ill but I think he should be put away with the insane for life.

This is terrible!!! To me whatever the punishment is as long as he is not on the streets to hurt or kill someone again!!

Death sentence. It cost money to keep him anywhere, and obviously he will never be able to be on his own.
