The Jewish holiday also called the day of atonement begins sunday night till Monday night
Jews rise above the physical aspect of this world that day
they do not eat or drink , they only pray
yom kippur is about forgiving
it is about the relationship with G-d and about being more like that creating force in our relationships with others;
to be more compassionate
to be more understanding
more forgiving of faults
because judgement is not passed by people
because there is only one real and true judge
that is what yom kippur is all about
at the same time i rememmber i forgot to buy memorial candles and i am off in search of a shop
that keeps those candles that burn for 25 hours and remind us of souls that have departed this eath
this year there will be one more to add to the three i light every year
one for my grandmother
one for my grandfather
one for my father
one for my mother
May all find it in their hearts to forgive
that scene from the movie "the jazz singer " reminds me that to forgive indeed is a divine act
and it is all too easy to be angry
i want to learn to forgive
this year
Here is a poem
Forgive me father
forgive me mother
forgive me child
forgive me lover
forgive me
for all the anger
for all the times
i did not listen to you
i did not love you
i was not there for you
because i know that you
great almight father
was
and always will be
there for me
always forgiving
always listening
always loving
me
i can learn to forgive
i can learn to listen
i can learn to love
more
this year
Amen
