My new friend Allen H from Sydney Australia wrote a fine poem he called Eco-Warrior, so I have made a stab at writing an eco-poem of my own as a comment. Read it and weep.
In America we killed vast herds of bison
That could weather winter storms and summer's heat
We imported domestic beef cattle
With lesser stamina and poorer quality meat
We fenced the land where the buffalo roamed
Over plains from Canada to Mexico.
Where the vulnerable cattle drifted in blizzards
And froze at fences - bodies piled high in the snow
Now there are ranchers and Indian tribes
Raising new herds of bison to replace nature’s meat
As the climate changes and aquifers run low
Hardy bison will still give us something to eat
This is true. I used to hav in-law relatives in western North Dakota who told me about the pitiful sight of frozen dead cattle piled high at fence corners. The stronger herds of buffalo might have burst through fences and kept drifting with the wind. They have the thick fur around their faces and necks to protect them. I have read that when they want to protect their young they make a circle with their heads facing out into the wind and the young ones are safe and warmer inside the circle. Domestic cattle have had most of their protective instincts bred out of them.

As a former farmer I wouldn't be keen on the Buffalo pushing down my fences - I think that I would present a Buffalo Bill if they did that...
There's one thing I'm always thinking of as human nature in a microcasm. Women pluck their eyebrows and then paint on eyebrows in one of several ways. What is it we hate about nature's way? Bison and other natural food sources are done away with as if they were an infinite supply. NOT. Humans are such users and destroyers.
to make the World a better place
"Service above self"
is the motto we face.
We send birthing kits to Africa,
Shelter boxes to Asia
build toilets in India,
send funds to Malaysia
Humanitarian Aid, we've still got to do it
But billions have been wasted
disfunctional governments just blew it
Food Aid to their soldiers, the poor never tasted.
If wars and poor governance were forever forbidden
(The UN's a disaster, no good in a Million)
if the land were a garden instead of a midden
the Planet would flower and support 50 Billion!
Having Children by choice
is never destructive
It gives meaning to life
Though it costs, disruptive
For me and my wife
No regrets
though sometimes strife
Loving children's
part of Life.
Don't knock the technology
that keeps you alive for this conversation
I can see an up-side to this situation
It can't be that bad to stay alive
When you consider the alternative
