In my previous "getaway" you were able to see some of the Gibson Inn and read the freewrite from 09/11/09. We got up the next morning and drove to Tallahassee, Florida to attend the twin's fourth birthday party.
On the way to Tallahassee, we stopped by my stepdad and mom's restaurant Hog Wild Bar-B-Q to enjoy good food while we visited. It was great to see Mom and Ken. I don't get to see them nearly as much as I would like. Our breakfast was mouth watering delicious. It consisted of an omelet, hashbrowns, and toast. Yummy!
It had rained all night and all morning. When we returned to Apalachicola, it was still overcast and the showers came and went. There were enough breaks between the showers for us to enjoy some of the sights.
I love going to the Marina because the boats have their own stories to tell.

We also made a short excursion to the park in Apalachicola and I was happy to see they had repaired the walkway over the water.

I also enjoy snapping photos of the feathered fellows frequenting the area.

Later, I was able to write the following freewrite while lounging in the room ~
September 12, 2009
Rainy, rainy, rainy. It's been like that all day. The drops hit the tin roof reminding me of another place and time. The rain doesn't bother me and I like the way it smells. It's refreshing and cleansing. It's also very soothing to me. Even when I hear the rumble of the thunder or see the flash of lightening, I feel relaxed.
I can not believe the twins will be 4 on the 23rd. They have grown so much and look just like Brooke when she was that age. I was glad to see them today, glad to see everyone. We don't see one another like we should....we all have excuses....not enough time....busy with this or that. But I will not let those thoughts get me down. It was fantastic seeing the looks on their faces as they ripped open presents. It brought tears to my eyes when they looked up and in unison (like they so frequently do) said "thank you for our birfday party, GG. I love you." I love to hear them talk. Their voices are so light and delicate.
A shiver just ran down my spine as I spied a shadow moving across the far wall. The lights flickered, barely, but flickered (probably just the bad weather),,.or maybe it's the ghosts visiting. I wonder if the good sea Captain is checking us out. Or maybe it is the two ladies of the house.

Excellent freewrite.
Anyway - lovely, just lovely and that last photo is my favorite - beautiful shot!
That last photo is favorite one too.
Wow! You entertain.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
2 thumbs up : - )
Thank you for posting to Pretty Pictures.
Some things do not need an explanation, they just are. And when you are meant to see the shadow or forms, you do. I have no doubt they are usually there to comfort the ones of us that are left behind. Hugs to you.
What a wonderful sentence this is, Renda:
"I love going to the Marina because the boats have their own stories to tell."
I enjoyed your photo essay very much.
Thanks for sharing.
Hope your day is well. Love you sis!
I did not see any shadow that made me shiver. However, I sometimes get goose bumps, but that it because I like V patterns.
