Good point. Myself I have always been a fate believer. I believe i wont go before i am meant to. Doesnt mean I take unnecessary risks but I will defend myself as best i can. Also I dont go places like that very often..lol

Gawd, thats scary. On my way to and from school I used to come across quite a few shady people everyday, and it was on my way home one day that I was grabbed coming out of the station and dragged into an alley.

That is some scarey crap and omg thank god I don't have to ride a subway, bus or any other form of public transport so the only thing I have to worry about is keeping my own eyes on the road! geez.

If you're not a part of the solution you're a part of the problem.

That's very frightening. It's good that one of the witnesses pulled the cord, but that didn't save the victim's life. It is very sobering for me to think of this incident, seeing as how I take the subway almost daily.

BE SAFE!!!! AVOID any and all confrontations w/ strangers!!!! you better promise!

Just one more good reason for people to carry hand guns. If the passengers were all armed, this kind of thing would soon stop because the nuts who are that aggressive would soon be dead.

That has been proven false. The state of Florida reduced its violent crime rate by over 85% when they lifted their restriction on hand guns and began to issue concealed handgun permits.

My best friend grew up in Harlem and said this kind of thing was everyday life for him.
He had stepped over bodies on the sidewalk while walking to school.
My very few trips to NY city were each scarred by some type of violence or witnessing a crime of some type.
NOT a good place to live, but I guess someone has to.

I agree with you about not wanting to argue with strangers. You never know who's going to turn into a stark raving mad murdering lunatic.

Amy, I'm an ex New Yorker, these things happen today and can happen without an argument! We really can't live our life in fear. Yes, it is a crazy world out there, but we can't stop living and should not live our life in fear on a daily basic. If we did we would never leave our homes, and then again how many times have you heard someone was attacked or killed in their home. I moved from NY to raise my children in FL, can I really way it is safer there? My answer would be NO!!!! Yes, now I lived in a house instead of an apartment, but the dangers are here too! Sometimes, I ask myself if there are more dangers here! Maybe, this man should have moved his bag, but it still shows the person was unstable if he needed to kill someone over a seat in the train. These things are happening all over today, it is truly not safe anywhere now! Only I choice not to live in fear everyday wondering what will happen. To me your post show more that people are not willing to help their fellow man!!! Don't Tell me that with 30 passengers in that train cab that he could not have been overtaken before repeatedly stabbed that passenger in the face and neck, for me that is the scariest part of your post!

I would have moved my bag as a simple courtesy. Never had these problems when taking BART every day.
