Stink Bugs really do Stink

  I thought last year was a bad year for stink bugs in my apartment. I had never had this problem before last year.  My Punk kitty got sprayed in the eye last year after trying to kill one and he suffered for days because of it.

 But, that was nothing compared to today.  I don't need a Farmer's Almanac to know it's going to be a bad Winter. Because,...

 

 I have hundreds of Stinkbugs on my roof and windows trying to get inside!

 

 

 I am serious. The roof is covered in them. It's like Invasion of the Stinkbugs!  I thought I had the windows pretty well sealed, but apparantly not. I killed about 15 of them that had somehow made it through. 

 

<-- they got in between the cracks as you can see here in one window.

 

 

So after sweeping up dead bodies, thinking I got them all, I sat down to join in the Dog chat tonight here at Gather.  Next thing I know, I feel something crawling on my shoulder and I turned my head to see one of those creepy stinky bugs looking back at me. I screamed and hit it.  Ewwwwwww! it sprayed my hand before it died.  :( Stinkbugs really do stink.

 I can't get the smell off either. This is not good. And right now.......

                              

 

There is one on the Lamp shade.

    Help!

 

 What can I do to kill them, without harming my pets?

i don't know how to get rid of them but i searched it on swagbuck and saw plenty of how to get rid of articles....... even got a swagbuck........lol...ty....

i'm sorry....i started laughing as soon as i read the title!!! those things are a royal pain; i remember them well. i don't remember what we used to do to get rid of them or to get rid of the stink. *still giggling* i know it's not funny & i'm sorry i can't help ya out.

yes dear friend....stink bugs really do stink. you made my night when i read that title. i hope the soapy water helps get rid of them!!!

Glad I could make your night. I've killed two more since I wrote this. I got to get off here and get some soapy water. Kamakazi Stinkbugs everywhere. :)

I just spent the last 30 minutes battling them. I went into the next room and turned on the lights. MY curtains were filled with them. They found a crack under the AC and were coming in that way. I poured soapy water on some and they kept moving! I went down and got my Hand Vac out of the barn and did what Angela suggested. I have been sucking those buggers up Big Time! Threw my curtains outside and just sat back down. I also had to put a sock in the vacuum hose because they kept crawling out. *sshiverss* It will be hard to sleep tonight.

oh my......did you plug up the crack under the a/c?? i wonder if there's something that turns them away? my grandmother used to put baking soda or something around the house to keep ants out? did you look up anything online?

I ducted tape it and they are still getting in. It's freaking Unreal. First i had barn swallows, then their mites, bees and now this. It's like everything is working against me here. :(

My Daughter has them... I am lucky none my way... Niki says you spray them with soapy water and throw them away being careful not to squeeze them or they will stink bad... Good luck with them Missy

Soapy water, lol. I got to try this. I guess they can't stand the clean smell and it kills them dead. :)

You just saved me big time. I just sucked up about a hundred of them. I went into the next room and they were all over my curtains. They had come in from under the window AC unit. Just gotta remember, until I empty it, I have to put a sock in the end of the hose so they don't come back out. :)

Me neither. Makes me think it's going to be a really bad winter. Either that, or it's some Biblical thing~ :) btw, they are still getting inside. i've ducted tape about every knook and cranny and they are still getting in.

This is the first time I heard of stink bugs...I know that there is lots of bugs here that I never seen in NYC....roaches is the biggest pest problem there...I went to research them online...I think I've seen them outside before...online they say use a mix of dishwashing liquid and water.Half and half in a spray bottle. The detergent will dissolve their hard shells and kill them in under 2 minutes.

I don't know how to get rid of them. I do know once you suck them up in your vaccum. Make sure you take your vaccum outside and release the critters or you will be re sweeping the same ones.

I just put them outside. I don't kill anything. I thought stinkbugs ate mosquitoes. But yes our house is covered too! Does that really mean it will be a bad winter if you have alot of stinkbugs cause if it does we are in for a whopper!

They are trying to get in before the cold. all i know is last winter, i only had a few. this is ridiculous
