The Historical Gibson Inn of Apalachicola, Florida is an amazing place that was built in the early 1900s, 1907 to be exact. Supposedly, it is also haunted and guests and workers both experience a variety of things from the Captain and his two daughters.

The weekend of the twin's birthday party, Allen decided to surprise me by booking a room for us. I had never stayed at the Gibson Inn, but certainly look forward to more stays at this wonderful place.
Since I had left my computer at home, I handwrote my freewrites. Here is the one (typed just as it is written) from the first night (Friday, September 11) at the Gibson Inn. The thoughts I was having were influenced by the scenes in the hotel and I was happy to see how the "freewrite" matched my photos.

What a fantastic place! After climbing the grand staircase to the third floor room, I kick my shoes off and recline on the daybed situated in front of the windows. The hardwood floors stretch the length of the room, supporting and complimenting the four poster bed. The ceiling fan swirls lazily, softly humming a tune. The latern like lights softly illuminate the surrounding area, creating a warm glow.

The gloominess outside doesn't bother me. In fact, it's only creating the right atmosphere to make me relax. I keep waiting for the Inn's ghosts to make an appearance. Will they come one at a time, all together, or not at all. I wonder how many people have been visited by the Captain and his two daughters. How often have the lights flickered, objects moved, temperatures fluctuated or images floated?

It's amazing this place has withstood so much time. How many people have been through these doors, sat at the bar, climbed the stairway, sat on the balcony with drink in hand and friend at side? What would these walls tell us if we would listen?

I want to get more pictures the next time we go. I didn't get a picture of our room because we had "moved in" before I got my camera out. We stayed in the room next door to the "haunted room" (unfortunately it was already taken). We did not have any "supernatural" experiences on the first night.
