Over the weekend I had another chat about the inconsistent rules of our language. For example, if a person who plays the piano is called a pianist, why isn't a person who drives a race car called a racist? And I’ve wondered about occasional tables. What are they the rest of the time?

I've wondered this too. Also, if a grown man is an adult why isn't a grown woman called an adultress? Of course, sometimes they are.

"if a person who plays the musical piano is called a pianist or Musician , then a person who drives a race car called Car enthusiast or a racing driver.... Just so you can get some sleep and not worry about it..
