Well, right now we are home. Mike, the kids, and I hiked in earlier today, via a little handmade bridge. I wish I could say it was easy, but it wasn't. I was being so careful and slow crossing the footbridge, but I ended up slipping. At least I had my left hand on the rope, so I didn't fall the 15 feet down in to the raging water. I ended up having to grab the rope with my casted right hand....not a good idea. My arm is now killing me....even after a big dose of painkillers earlier today. And yes, Mike had to come across and help pull me back up. I think I really scared both him and the kids...okay, and myself. I was covered in mud from waist down too. Yuck. Angela had to use wet wipes to clean the mud off me.
The power is on to the house....and the gas was turned on a little while ago, BUT we still have NO WATER and NO SEWER. I can do without the electricity, but not being able to use the bathrooms isn't fun. Crews have been working on fixing the roads non-stop since late last night. If they continue to work through the night, we might have a temporary fix in place by tomorrow morning. Hopefully, this will mean we get water and sewer fixed too. The mud may be off, but I could really use a shower. If we're without water tomorrow night, then we'll be headed back to a hotel. About 1/2 my neighbors are still at hotels or shelters tonight. We decided to stay and "rough" it.

This was taken this afternoon after the trees and other junk were removed. This is the only way in and out of my subdivision....and we live about a block and a half down (to the right). Mike has some photos of before the equipment arrived (and while it was still raining). I will have him email me a few shots. You can't really tell exactly how wide this gap is either.

How is your arm feeling today? I hope it is geeling better. I hope the rains stay away so the ground can soak that water up.
Better take it easy with your hurt are, wouldn't want to mess it up even more, Glad you didn't get a lot of water in your basement....Glad you had a home to go back too.,
Do you live in the Atlanta area?
