Three years and one day ago my family became complete, my third and last child was born, my daughter came into this world. I have always believed that the way a child's labor goes is the first glimpse of their personality ,and with my three children my belief has held true. My daughter was born very quickly, from first contraction to her 4:21a.m. delivery was less than 12 hours. She was born with only 1 push and absolutely no pain medication, I went into labor one week before my scheduled c-section and the doctor was attempting to prep me for an emergency c-section when the nurse said there was no time, I had to deliver her right there in the pre-op room, they called my husband, and he came running in just in time to see her come into this world.
My husband and I were only partly kidding when we teased that she will keep us on our toes since she seemed like she would be doing things on her own terms and timetables, and as it turns out, she is! My baby girl crawled at 6 months and took her first steps at 7 months, she talked in full sentences rather than one or two words at a time, and she potty trained at 20 months old.
Yesterday was her third birthday, and I could not be more proud of how she is growing up. She is in preschool and she can already recognize and say all the letters in her name, she can recite her numbers up to ten, and she knows her ABC's, colors, and animals. It amazes me how fast the past three years have flown by, it seems like I just blinked and now she is three. I am very happy for her, she is growing up, but it does tug at my heart to realize my baby girl is no longer a baby, she is turning into my big girl.
Leading up to her birthday we asked her what she would like to have for her birthday dinner and she would always answer the same thing "pink birthday cake", so my wonderful husband made her a pink birthday cake, and for dinner we all sat down and ate cake, she was so happy she said "oh thank you daddy, it's my favorite!"
