Global warming to Continue at Fast Pace

Legislation to date favors a cap & trade system that allows corporation to continue to polute the environment at the tax payers expense.

This is the Waxman-Markley comprehensive energy bill, known for short as "ACES," that includes a cap-and-trade global warming reduction plan designed to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent by 2020. Other provisions include new renewable requirements for utilities, studies and incentives regarding new carbon capture and sequestration technologies, energy efficiency incentives for homes and buildings, and grants for green jobs, among other things.

AFP just released a study detailing the special interest influence used to grease H.R. 2454's passage through the U.S. House. The policy paper examines how campaign contributions, pork-barrel projects and free carbon emission allowances, pork-barrel projects and free carbon emission allowances were all used to buy the votes of hesitant representatives. The paper also looks at how Wall Street trading houses, electricity producers and the Left’s political allies all stand to benefit from the Waxman-Markey energy tax bill.

If we were serious about curbing glbal warming we would be putting our resources into green technology that already exists and not into these corporate empire building scams.
We are putting billions into carbon capture theory but why would we want to capture carbon emissions if we are going to eliminate carbon based fuels and go green?

I think personally that we elected a highly intelligent president with Obama but he is being opposed by his own party at every turn as well as the GOP that has no agenda at all. Know matter what the issue, weather global warming or health care or foreign policy the president has to make so many public apperances to dispel lies and inuendo that he cannot effectivly do his job and lead his party that continues to play up to corporate cronyism and pork barrel politics.
White House Feeling Boxed In on Climate Pact With odds for climate change legislation this year now hovering around zero, the Obama administration is looking for fallback positions that can ensure the United States has a strong negotiating hand at December's U.N. Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen -- where 192 nations are supposed to develop a follow-on pact to the Kyoto Protocol.

The administration had hoped enactment of a domestic cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions would send a strong signal to its negotiating partners, and enable it to strike a global-warming deal that's acceptable to both houses of Congress.
Cap and trade only effects the rate of inflation on the public that have corporate taxes added onto the public burden so their is no advantage to cap and trade. Any benefit from green jobs will be offset by the higher cost of living that will be thrown onto the tax paying public.
The president cannot make effective change because he has to give to much away to his own political party and all he gets in return are bills that support corporate profits and have nothing to do with greening up our economy.

If America really wants to lead the world into environmental cleanup and green energy it will have to do more than lip service at the up coming meeting of world leaders.
