Happy Fall and Raking Leaves

Happy Fall to everyone.

It's time to get out the long sleeved t-shirts.

The leaves are falling from my trees, just like they always do this time of the year.  It always amazes me that they know when they are supposed to do this.

Raking leaves isn’t any fun.  I mostly mow over them with the lawn mower. 

Does anyone rake leaves any more or do most people do what I mostly do and just mulch them up with the lawn mower?

Wow, it sure doesn't seem possible it's fall already, does it? We've been having wonderfully warm weather........in the mid to high 70s........today it rained a good portion of the day, but we really needed it. Yep, the trees are starting to change color here as well!

Yes, we do still rake leaves! There are just too many huge old trees in our lawn and mowing area to mow over. It's a back breaker for sure. But sometimes when the weather cooperates and the leaves dry quickly on the ground, we can just rake quick piles and burn 'em where they lie instead of having to cart them off.

And once in a great while, we get winds strong enough to blow most of 'em into the neighbor's yard! :-)

My husband rakes. I watch. And the grandsons jump into the piles he so neatly made.

we don't rake anymore, even though our city has curbside pickup if we put the leaves in the street. makes more sense to mulch them into the grass.

Haha that;s funny Lee- One day I had to do the lawn cuz my husbadn was out of town and I did justthat.
I ran them over with the mower.

my husband has this superblower ( a pack that goes on his back with the hose attached). His friend and he share custody of "big bertha". She is their pride and joy.

He blows all the leaves into the woods that surround our property. It is very strong and powerful. Watch out for small children, they may become tumbleweeds that blow into the woods. :)

My husband mainly mows the leaves over. I do sweep them up with the hop vac when they get all over the car port. Kids like doing that to. They think it is fun.

I rake leaves all during the Fall......if we rake them into the street our township comes and collects them and takes them to make compost.

We still rake. But bag them now as the city stopped picking up. I wish we could burn them as I love the smell and the sound of them crackling. :)

I have a postage stamp back yard and there aren't enough trees around to matter. The few leaves that hit the ground are mulched up with the lawnmower.

If I had a big yard, I would want one of those attachments to a riding mower that automatically mulches up the leaves and put it in a hopper. Leave mulch is wonderful for worms and worms are wonderful for gardens.

it's the start of my favorite time of year. I can't wait until DST is done and I can live my life in the night time again.

I love the fall too. We won't have very many leaves this year as we had to cut down our two big maple trees. (Rotten inside) Of course the neighbors have tress and so we will get some of their leaves, but my husband just mows them into mulch too. That is better than haveing to haul them to the dump as we are not allowed to burn them any more.

I spend weeks raking leaves. I love fall! The only problem with it is that it's followed by winter.

The only leaves we really got were from our neighbor's trees...both in the front and back yard. In the front they just used to get mowed over, and in the back yard they mostly landed on our deck, so we would vaccuum them up with the Shop Vac. All four of those trees have since been cut down 'cause of the damage their roots were causing.
Fall is my favorite season.

I only get a few leaves in my yard and I mow over them. When my lilac bushes all get taller, I suppose I'll have to rake some unless the wind blows them another way.
I enjoy doing raking and mowing but it is painful which ruins it. Drats!

My Persimons are dropping like flies. I haven't mowed my yard once this year. Notice I said yard and not lawn,.

Yup, it's my very best favorite season of the year too. Crispy temps, sunny days and trees turning the colors of Autumn. I like seeing the fallen leaves in their Autumn colors on the ground - dots of color here, there and everywhere.
The leaves are mulched when my husband mows the lawn. It's good for the lawn.

We still rake. :) I love the smell of the leaves when piled up. Reminds me when I was young and used to rake huge piles up and jump in them....then pick all the ones that stuck in my hair out. ;)
