This weekend, I went to my home town area, and did 3 photo shoots with people I know from Facebook. The first shoot was for a girl who was my cousin, once upon a time. She's my ex-step-father's niece. I met up with her family at a lovely little park, and spent a while with them, though the youngest child ran out of patience fairly early in. As a result, I didn't get many photos with him in them, unless he was screaming. I felt bad, but I did get some cute photos over all.
The next shoot was immediatly following the first shoot, at a different location, this time, Gerald R Ford Museum, where the former President is laid to rest. The museum is on the river, with a beautiful little park between the building and river. Right now, there is an art competition going on, so there were new sculptures to see, and use in the photos.
My last shoot was the next day, with my friend Karen's sister-in-law's family. We actually went to 2 parks, and even had a clothing change for this one. The parks were right across the street from one another, but boy was the first park a gem for photographers. It was re-done in 2008, and has a rock lined river, bridges, a few manmade waterfalls, a gazebo, plant life, trees, pathways, and more. It's also small, so you don't have to walk all over the place to get to the areas you want.
All in all, I felt like I learned a lot this weekend, even just from shoot to shoot. I did get model release forms for everyone, and here are some of my edited photos from this weekend.

I love the little blue eyed girl one!
You can start telling folks you specialize in children's photography. Parents always look for photographers who are good with kids and can get the best out of them.
For the editing, I use Jasc's Paintshop Pro 8. To do selective color, I use layers. You drop an identical image ontop of itself, then I make the top layer black & white, and just snip away what I want to be colored, so that the color underneath shows through!
I have done senior photos and a couple of weddings
