Yesterday was the 30th annual Harvest Hoedown in Aynor, SC, Phyllis R's hometown. Marianne R. and I took the trip over to join in the festivities. We arrived a few minutes before the parade started and found an excellent vantage point.
There were so many different categories in the parade, bands, beauty queen winners, tractors, clowns, floats, civic groups, and even a traveling port-o-potty which you can see in Marianne's first photo essay of the event. I didn't get a photo of that odyssey.
I had my tele-converter lens on to catch all the action in cast we weren't close, but since we had such an excellent spot up front, I really didn't need it and had to be quick enough to capture the images when they were far enough away. A few shots were taken without the lens fully extended showing the black circle framing. It was so hot I ran out of steam by the time we got to the vendor booths with all the arts and craft items. It was also very crowded, they had a wonderful turnout.
In this photo essay I'd like to share the tractor section of the parade. I'm not real familiar with the history of Aynor but I imagine there are a lot of farmers that come from families that settled this area of South Carolina.

Waccamaw is a town not far from Aynor.

Now that's an old tractor and still running!

There sure were some nice looking tractors. The tires are huge.
If you've never been to a small town parade you don't know what you're missing. So much time and work goes into the parade and they are a lot of fun to see. If you ever get the opportunity to travel to one, I highly recommend it.
Next up maybe I'll post the beauty queens, there sure were a lot of them.
