I made a paper doll and dresses - who plays with paper dolls ???

I made these a long while ago when I did a Joan Crawford cartoon for a free local gay newspaper, Queue Press (all paid for by advertising).  The paper didn't last - those free kind rarely do.

Since then I cleaned them up a bit with photoshop (I first just did them with watercolors).

Peter, this brings back memories. I really did play with paper dolls when I was a child. They were really big in the 70s.

I loved paper doll's! I even use to make my own by cutting out people picture's from the Sear's catalog =)

Remember the old Macalls mags. Each month there was a paper doll with clothes. My grandmother would give me the mag when she was threw with it and I would cut them out. I had an old shoe box full of them and would play for hours.

Oh, yes, and I also had the Besty McCall designer set where you could make your own fashions with the light up desk. I loved paper dolls.

I used to have a fabulous collection of paper dolls. I had so many that it made it difficult to eat soup without one falling into the bowl and this of course emotionally devastated me. My mom, wife, kids and foreign visitors with cameras would look on with feigned disinterest at my paper cuts, which caused self esteem problems. I was a mess, but was saved by an Arctic blast of cold weather recently making most everyone think we are a sister city to International Falls. We needed kindling for get a fireplace fire started, so I offered all my paper dolls as a sacrifice, except for the Norm Coleman cut out paper doll because we must guard against indoor air pollution.

I saw then they were cool I loved playing with paper dolls as a kid . Mt sister had a collection called " Dozen Cousins " and I use to sneak in and play with them every chance I got. It was so much more fun than playing with my own.

Played with paper dolls as a child. And recently I found paper dolls of Barbie for a little girl that I watch. At first she didn't get it, but I explained to her about I played with as a child. We played for awhile, but heck kids nowadays have way too much stuff and don't use their imagination like we did.

My big sister and I had several sets of paper dolls, we also had the Betsy McCall paper dolls from the magazine. I still have a real Betsy McCall doll too and also the patterns to sew more clothes!
The Joan Crawford clothes are much more elaborate than the clothes from our dolls though!
