These deer are very skinny, Karen. I was just talking to a friend about that. Most of the deer and elk we have seen this year look very healthy.

Nice shots. I love to see deer in the wild. Can't understand how anyone can shoot them. My sister sent pictures of a group to turkeys that came onto her front lawn this summer as she was sitting knitting on her porch. Guess they either didn't see her, or didn't see her as a threat. She lives in a small town in CT

GREAT deer photos! Shooting wild turkeys is no fair! They are so tame they will come right up to your car! I get out and take pictures of them and they don't even run away. In fact, they look like they are expecting me to feed them! And shooting them with an arrow would be so cruel!

That one did look beat up, as if from barbed wire. That's not good. Also not so good about their weight. What's going on in that area?

I'm not sure what's going on Mom. It's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks to me like the first deer is in good shape. From the scars on the second one I'll be it got tangled up in a barb wire fence and was either caught there for a long time or the injuries were bad enough to keep it down for a long time and it couldn't eat. When it was walking through the forest it seemed to be eating just fine so maybe it's just catching up.

Great pictures Toni. Too bad Robert didn't get a Turkey, I'm supposed to go up pretty soon myself for a try during the Fall shot gun season.
Did Robert see any? If not, he will probably come across a bunch next week, LOL.

Hi John. He did see some and even called a few in but none ever got close enough for him to take a shot. He saw the most under Colcord Lookout. There is a road that runs along the power lines and that's where he called some in to him but they just wouldn't come close enough. You could see all kinds of signs in that area though. That's the first time I've ever been shocked by my quad, it was quite a surprise. LOL. I didn't know the energy would travel down into the metal on the quad.

That's bizarre Toni! I can hardly believe that, that can't be safe... wow, never heard of that before; but will think about it next time I'm around any of those power lines. Sheesh!

I'll be in Unit 5A... my fave. In the 719 loop off of FR95... we always see Turkeys there, just rarely successful during the seasons, LOL.

I think it was fine as you were just driving under the power lines (although at that time I would have had my hands on the foam grip). But once we stopped and I went to get off the quad my hand slipped from the foam to the metal and I got a pretty good jolt. LOL. Not enough to really hurt but enough to wake me up. Okay, I'll let Robert know where you're going, it might just be another place for us to explore one of these days. Thanks.

I'm with John on this one, Toni. That should not be happening....period. You wouldn't consider it normal or fine if you got shocked by touching your car while under a power line. You might call your dealer and ask about it. If it's not caused by the quad, then I'd be wondering what's going on with the power line and where I might report that.

I never went on a hunt I didn't enjoy, successful or not. The "Harvest" insures a healthy balance of the species. Most hunters I know are avid conservationists.

good deer pictures. There has been a family of deer visiting my parents' backyard the last couple of weeks. My mom hasn't been able to get any pictures. They keep running off when she goes to get the camera.
