after the 1st part of our nature walk yesterday we went in the house for dinner. by the time we were ready for the 2nd half of our walk it was dark and the sisters were in the house. the rest of us continued our journey without them.

here are photos of what the remaining 3 found the most interesting:
this center is the home of 5 churches (5 different denominations) and 11 community groups. these are the signs in front.

we saw more flowers.

we saw some great leaf shapes. we especially loved the chewed up leaves by the abandoned house.

i took a few more tree shots.

more groovy colors:

this fellow wasn't as friendly as the one we'd seen on the earlier walk:

thanks to some gather members i was able to identify this tree:

but we weren't so lucky with some other things:

some "city" things the kids commented about:
this salon:

this trolley:

someone's bike:

the avenue:

we stopped by a place called a space. they always have free books for the taking.

this house hosts a haunted house every halloween. this is what it looks like every other day. santa lives in the yard but is always missing from december 24th - december 26th. =)

a star guided us home. this is what it looked like when i used my flash:

and this is when i didn't:

and this little guy ended the walk:

the highlight of the evening walk for the children was trying to get apples from a tall apple tree.

the highlight for me was this absolutely stunning flower. the bush was FULL of them. maybe 10-12 altogether. it was HUGE! my fist could easily fit inside of it. can anyone identify it for me?

thanks for walking with us!

Oh and that last flower is a Mon Flower they only open after dark
no child should have to grow up around that.
Now that was one fantastic walk, I bet the kids loved it!
And I am not sure about the flower this time :)
Sorry your wonderful walk was interrupted, but you did a great job finding the good stuff, even the neon lights help to brighten up the view.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Take care.
*the slug however is an acquired taste* ;)
Loved all of the photos but especially the first one of the kids! They are so photogenic!
I don't have your photography skills, but if I remember to take my camera anywhere, I take photos too. Your kids looked so happy - because of you.
