The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run counter to President Obama's promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet.
The Bush administration storing social site video and comments without informing the users. Opps wait it's this new and improved administration that's doing it. If this is actually happening I'm sure that it's all a big misunderstanding.

From the (entire) article:
Defenders of the White House actions said the Presidential Records Act requires that the administration gather the information and that it was justified in taking the additional step of asking a private contractor to "crawl and archive" all such material. Nicholas Shapiro, a White House spokesman, declined to say when the practice began or how much the new contract would cost.
Susan Cooper, a spokeswoman for National Archives and Records Administration, said the presidential records law applies to "social media" and to public comments "received by the president or immediate staff."
I suppose we could just send Sandy Burglar. I mean Sandy Berger.
Which is not the White House's fault, but that of the person who forwarded it to them. Everyone, or every business has a right (and the WH has a legal requirement) to keep copies of things sent to them. If the person sending the material had no right to do so, your beef is with them.
And generally if you're really that worried, don't post anything controversial that can find its way back to you. It's really not that hard to be at least secure against anything short of major CIA/NSA/FBI action, and largely impossible to duck that level of interest at a sub-professional level.
Pretty much everything that you publish on-line is subject to be found and used by anyone interested. Deal with it.
Doesnt the President have something MORE IMPORTANT to do than worry about people talking badly about him on facebook or twitter?

That one has the WH panties in a real knot and no one (of the press) is reporting it.
