My Penn State Experience - September 18, 2009

YIKES!!  quizzes in all my classes!!

Algebra:  quiz that covered percentages and inequalities.  Though I do not know the outcome I'm fairly certain I did much better this time than last time.  I slowed my pace, did the ones I was sure I knew first... double checked my answers to make sure I did the positive and negatives correctly or to the best of my ability and then went and did the one that stumped me.  Yes a word problem.  I'll let you know Monday on how I did.

English:  We had a quiz over what we were supposed to read as home work.  A short story called "A Sorrowful Woman"  I can't give you a link because this one I could only get through the university library.  I did get all the questions on the quiz correct (yay me!).  The story is very, very strange and I may post what I think about it another time.  Though the one time I did this, it did not go over very well.  We also, finally, were given our assignments back, I posted my writing here if you are interested.  Since we were given extra time, my second writing assignment will be turned in on Monday.  Hopefully I will have it back by Wednesday to post then.

History:  Yep, another quiz.  Fortunately for me it was the bonus quiz first, because I did not do very well.. .in fact I only was able to get four of the nine questions correct.  On two of the questions, I knew the answer I just had a "brain fart" and was drawing blanks.  One was a date ... blah!  The others I will have to do better at studying.  After the quiz we discussed the intellectual mentality of the times.  I find it very interesting  1) The rule was that everyone was to obey (without question) their secular and spiritual leaders... of course more often than not the secular and spiritual were one in the same.  One was never to question athority.  2) Life was static, one was not to expect change because things were the way they were for reasons unknown to mortal man. In other woulds God's will prevails and there is nothing you can do about it. 3)  Life was an unhappy interlude between birth and heaven.
