Recently, I've been posting about the problem with Gather's current flagging system. It is too easy for a troll to flag a postÂ simply because it's over a subject they dislike. Especially when trolls flag and already flagged post or as I've encountered when they flag for the reason of other. In this case, I feel the reason provided should be made visible for all to see.

My posts about portions of another gatherer's email got me flagged, she had written me to say there was copyright infringement, and complained that I did not give her credit for her words by attributing them to her name, when I asked if she wanted me to mention her name; I was soon flagged.

The posts flagged were these three: Quality, SSSssssshhhh, and this last one is already flagged for mature audiences: OUCH!!!

All 3 had their flags lifted. I'm positive I know who were responsible. Is it not harassment and petty to flag for the sake of flagging? Would you report these people for harassment if it had been done to you?

I am not a Peta member they are a controversial animal rights group. I don't care for meat and I am an animal lover so I guess maybe I might be sweet maybe

In a HUGE way I would report them for harassment. Someone is just placing major flags on you because she does not like you Amy. She is judging you without true reason. Just to be a pain in your arse.

I have been flagged so often and wrongly, I should have my own country. I am being harassed on Gather, but as long as they want to give me views or comments let them knock themselves out. As for who is doing it, you'd be surprised. I flagged one article, and told the person I did it, and did an article on it. I don't flag easily, but really found the article to be offensive, but at least the person flagging should say why they flagged it, and who they are, but most trolls flag because they have no life. It's a shame people do this and waste everyone's time.

Sidewinder said "Ass Crack!" (quick, flag it for Language!) ROFL!

As for flagging, I figure Gather knows exactly who the repeat flaggers are and will eventually either stop them or take their flagging rights away :) Can you imagine a flagger addict with their flagging-rights taken away? They might end up on MySpace!

Hang in there Amy, repeat flaggers are pretty easy to figure out who they are - and since Sidewinder already said "Ass Crack", I think they're assholes!

I would stop complaining about being flagged and get over it. I have never flagged anyone even if I didn't like what they were saying or the use of their words. I may find some things objectionable but I will never say a bad word. I just either ignore the post OR I give it a bit lower rating than a 10. I will never give a 1 or a 2 but I will give an 8 or a 9 instead of a 10. I figure life is too short to be bothered by some of the things that people write.

Hang in there. Try to use different words that don't seem to make people pissed off - and try to ignore whoever this person is. It is getting you too upset. Have you written Kevin or someone who runs Gather? Maybe you should ban this person or these people from your friends list?

Well so far never been flagged.. I would take in stride..
One thing about being flagged more people read it to see what s going on..
But if it keeps going on and its the same person flagging all your articles then it would be harrasement. But if its just one person random that s not harrasement.
