I never thought I'd write a post with Obama and Kanye West in the same sentence, but here goes...
By now, you've probably heard Obama's reaction to Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift's VMA acceptance speech.
Obama was asked by reporters what he thought of the incident off the record. Obama told them that Kanye was a "jackass", but as he stated, he has more important things to do. How crappy is it that they released this audio??? It's showing complete disrespect for the President, but also, it shows how unprofessional they are.
After hearing about the whole thing, I was curious and decided to hear the audio for myself. But what I'm more curious about is how conservatives feel about Obama's comment. I would assume they're all angry at Kanye, but at the same time, they want to pick apart Obama as much as possible, and often for no good reason.
OK conservatives, I know I attacked you a bit above, but I want to know your honest opinion. What did you think when you heard Obama call Kanye a "jackass". Do you hold Obama in higher regard now, or do you just dislike him even more?

I know you can't be serious to compare a disrespectful a front to our president with a low level entertainer.
We ALL think Kanye was a "jackass". Anything that aligns president Obama with most people on the same side of an issue (no matter what the issue) is a good thing for him. It's a subtle alignment. Plus he comes out of it with a "cool" perception and "one of the guys" so to speak.
Obviously, if you vehemently hated the president prior or you have offense to the language nothing will change your mind. But..
1. Obama's comment was off the record. The reporter should have left it there, that's what off the record means. Wilson's comment was in a very formal setting with a precedent of restraint. Obama is the president. Wilson is a Congressman, the entire nation did not elect him for anything although he is probably auditioning to be Sarah Palin's running mate, and it wasn't one of his town howlers meetings.
2. Obama was right, Kayne is a jackass for bounding on the stage and taking the microphone away from an award winner to editorialize about how his pick should have been picked. Security should have taken him away. Wilson was wrong, any responsible, independent analysis of the bills under consideration leads to the solid conclusion that this coverage is not being extended to illegal immigrants. Wilson was the liar when he called Obama a liar. If he were a junior high school student, he would have been removed from the assembly. Instead, bone-headed conservatives want to make the lying jerk into a hero and demonize the person telling the truth. Go figure.
I think the lesson here is that public figures should never assume that anything they say is off the record.
Limbaugh: Kanye gets called a Jackass for speaking the truth. With this adminsitration anyone who speaks is a target.
Hannity: Obama is a jackass for calling Kanye a Jackass.
Glenn Beck: Is Kanye white? He must be because Obama does not like white people.
How would such a comment either cause me to hold him in higher regard or dislike him even more? That is his opinion on something that has absolutely nothing to do with the way his policies might affect my life. Your question does show how you do not separate the politics from the person, and that says a lot more about what I think of you than what I think of him.
