Click On Return and Then Save... by Michael Reisman

Screams of help had me jump out of my car a block before arriving home.  Three thugs were attacking an elderly woman as each was grabbing for her pocketbook that was strapped around her shoulder.  My combat training from a long forgotten war in Vietnam kicked into my brain and I quickly subdued and two of the three attackers as the third fled from the scene.  911 was called by a witness and the police took into custody two of the three muggers.  Eventually the third was caught as he was ratted out by the other two.  Evelyn and I got to know each other over the next couple weeks as a lonely pair of 60 year olds talked about our past.  She was a nurse back in those days who saved many soldiers, one of them being me.  Our focus of memories became clear as I remembered her and she remembered me.  How strange we met again so many years later as I saved her life after she saved mine.  My old soldiers uniform still fit as so did her nurses uniform.  They were the outfits of a bride and a groom in a special wedding ceremony performed this year.  Maybe in God's plan there is a button or two which clicks on "Return and then save".  On loves path a healed soldier and a life saving nurse meet once again.  Maybe we all wear uniforms from a different time, yet never change them when the time is right.
