Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for its living,
But a child that's born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blythe, and good and gay.
Hello and welcome to the relaunched Tuesday Writing Essential!
I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with Gather members on the topic of writing. I hope you find the various challenges and prompts helpful for improving the craft of writing for you.
For this inaugural post, I would like to focus on tactics for finding inspiration. Many writers -- myself included -- have experienced the dreaded writer's block. There are a plethora of tools, techniques and approaches to overcoming this, including free-writing, which quite a few Gatherites have enjoyed practicing.
Another method that often works is listening to music. Particularly when you can listen with headphones, shutting out distractions and background noise, listening to music often promotes visualization, association and creativity.
For today's Tuesday's Child, share with us a piece you've crafted inspired by music. You can, if you desire, tell us which piece or pieces inspired the write, or simply share the fruits of your labor.
Please tag your submissions with "tuesdays child," and "writing essential."
I look forward to seeing your work!
