Johnny Castle can no longer protect Baby : Patrick Swayze dead at 57

In a sad turn of events, Patrick Swayze has passed away at age 57. After a 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed at home, surrounded by family. Swayze who acted in such 80s greats as Red Dawn, The Outsiders, and Roadhouse will long be remembered by his fans. Arguably his best role was in Dirty Dancing which coined the famous phrase "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." He will be missed. Rest in Peace Patrick.

I just heard this. Wow, 2009 has not been a good year to be a celebrity. I really liked him. What a shame. : {

Not unexpected news but very sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He put up a good fight but there are still some battles we can't win.

That is so sad. He was one of my favorite actors. I am glad he isn't suffering any more though.

It is sad and yet it wasn't a surprise.
Hi Brian,
It was a surprise to me - I MISSED the fact that he was even sick and my favorite movie of his was Dirty Dancing - wow, could he dance. Yes, it's been a really lousy year for celebrities.
