Patrick Swayze died at age 57

Hollywood has lost a one of its icons way too soon. Today Patrick Swayze died at age 57, losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

I can't say I'm surprised; I think we've all been expecting this. It's sad to see he's really gone, but I'm glad that he's in a better place where he can live his life freely and without pain.

Forget about the MTV VMAs for one moment. Let's instead focus on Patrick Swayze and how much he entertained us. One of my favorite clips of Patrick Swayze is his Chippendale's skit on SNL with Chris Farley. It was hilarious and showed how he could make fun of himself. Check it out below.

But we'll all remember him best for his role in Dirty Dancing. This NEVER gets old. I've watched that movie how many times??? Enjoy.

No matter what role he played he did it with class !! now he's at peace and not in any pain

I saw something on CNN before. I had a feeling it was coming. I saw a supermarket rag that had an article about him being "towards the end". So sad though - he was really talented. I feel bad for his wife and his kids.

I was a fan of Swayze's. Some of his work still moves me or makes me laugh.

I'm sorry that his death means that we will never receive new talent from him, but unlike yourself I do not think he is living in a better place "Where he can live his life freely" and without pain, or whatever you said... I think he is dead. Period. That includes no "ghost" as well.

It is sad that he passed and not for the reasons that most people usually associate with the passing of a celeb. He's been battling cancer for almost two years and during that time we've learned a lot about his character and his personal life. It's become quite apparent that this was a man who was beloved by his friends and family. Not only was he a handsome, charismatic, talented man on screen, it seems that he was the same, if not more off-screen. You can't always say that about a celeb you admire.

Having lost a family friend to pancreatic cancer i know how painful and devastating it can be -- not only to the patient but also to their friends and family. He's no longer suffering so hopefully his family and friends can take some solace in that.
