You do know Feds now give free cell phones, along with minutes, and voice mail, to the poor? If in Medicade or earn under $26k per year - are eligible. They don't want the poor to be untraceable.

actually the goverment has been given discounts on reg. phones for oh I don't know...20 yrs.

and that women in shelters are given free cell phones to be able to..oh my, get hold of someone (police) to protect them from abusive husbands.

and I been paying for tv for 30 yrs.

And for tracking purposes..GPS...I had no idea it has been going on this long Nellie. I only found out about this 'practice' in 2003. Thank you for this extented information.

I don't pay for TV because there is nothing that resembles truth to be found there.

Nope, not worried. Mainly because where I use to live if you didnt have satillite you didn't have any tv at all.

And really, do you think there is a little man sitting in your converter box watching you?

and they didn't make the public get it..if you don't want it, then don't get it. I been with my satilllite for five years, same box even......no one came and made me get a new converter box.

Yes, but with satallite TV, it was totally up to you to purchase it and that was considered a luxury purchase in the beginning. Now, satillite is really pushing their products.

I've never considered that. We do have digital cable, though. And they were like hardcore pushing it on everyone. I always saw commericals "make sure you do this and that, because you won't have tv after such and such date".. i'm like.. alrighty then.

You do not need a converter box or new TV unless you are using an antenna.

This is different Jack... First it was old TV's with antennas. I never had to do anything as my tv was only about 8 years old and I had cable. Now we can't get certain stations unless we "lease" this oher type of box. My cable company says it's because more & more stations are broadcasting in digital.

If the public did not want to lose control of what they want and do not want on TV they should not have allowed TV to be taken off the public airwaves they own.

HD TV is just another scam to sell more junk the public does not need.

TV has no value to me or my wife except for entertainment and the programs are so full of commercials the entertainment factor is going out the window very fast and our TV will go with it.

It sucks for the fact that I bought one of those little tv/radio combos for when we have no power.

Yeah, HD Radio is also being pushed on us, even on Christian Radio Stations!!! I will not get an HD Radio.

I have digital cable and I love it. I have a bundle package in fact, television, telephone, and Internet. I pay less for these services than I was paying for them separately. Verizon was getting ridiculous with their fees and rates and high speed cable access is much easier to surf the internet and send my writing through email. As for being tracked by it, I could care less. I do absolutely nothing that would cause enough excitement to wake up the little spy in the box. I have probably bored him to death by now. Every ISP has a number no matter what service you use and your whereabouts on the Internet can be traced if you do something improper. No one forced me to get cable, I could have opted to buy a satellite dish or use one of the converter boxes available at Radio Shack to pick up signals for three or four stations without cable. No way, the television brings my mother the only little bit of peace she has left and if they want to track what channels she watches and what time she watches, they are welcome to come on over and sit in the front room with her.

Yeah, I too have the Comcast Triple Play. This package was purchased way before I found out that we are being watched. Even when the TV is turned off, we are being watched. Just like when cell phones are turned off, whoever is listening in on us, can still hear us.

Oh, and even if you think "you have noting to hide", some government agency will make sure they find something to charge you will and who knows what will happen from there.

It IS about being watched an monitored! Just because WE are doing nothing wrong, does not make IT right. It's yet another lost freedom and invasion of privacy. THIS ISN'T JUST WRONG, IT'S REALLY WRONG!!!

This is in the "works" through Comcast Cable. Read this article and watch this video. Very big brother, don't you think? Also, he makes no apologies for what he and Comcast are going to be doing in the very near future.

I was just informed that one of my fav stations (Tru-tv) will not be available after Dec. 8th unless I "lease" a box from Time Warner. Five other stations as well. So, do I get a credit on that group of stations that I was paying for and are now going? Who knows.
I ordered the darn box, It's free for a year and I figure all stations will soon be unavailable without it. Next it could be Lifetime or TCM, or TLC! I hate having to pay another charge on top of the too expensive cable. It's very confusing.

I wonder, does TruTV allow you to watch their shows online? Many channels are allowing viewers, not Fox, to watch their shows online now.

Not sure but I think it really is going to be more & more channels going digital in this way. My mom's cable company has taken away AMC, Animal Planet and the weather channel and unless she gets the digital box she can't get them. She's ordered the box...It's a digital thing. They are all going digital, it's just a matter of when.
