The woman of his dreams is out there – the question is, who is she?  Told in a series of flashbacks, “How I Met Your Mother” is the hilariously unpredictable story of how twenty-something Ted meets his soul mate and says goodbye to the singles’ world of pick-up lines, one night stands and relationship “deal-breakers.”  Things have a funny way of working out in this delightfully fresh and fast-paced comedy.

i met my sons father when i worked for him at jersey mikes subs. i walked in and told them i knew how to use a meat slicer and had the job instantly. we've been dating now for 3ish years.

by the way, for all fans of how i met your mother. the new season starts on monday sept 21st!! im exited. me and my boyfriend LOVE this show :)

I met hsbnd's parents when he brought me home for thanksgiving. It was a simple non event weekend. When he met my family, there might have been 50 + people to welcome him. :)

I met my husband through my cousin. My cousin is nine months older than me, I knew how he was with women and I just assumed that would be how all his friends were with women. When he told me he wanted me to meet on of his friends, I refused! There was NO WAY that I was going to go out with a friend of his!

I was visiting my cousin, I lived 2 hours away. And RJ came over to talk to my cousin about something. I'm very shy and just sat there listening to them talk guy stuff. A few minutes later, I get up to walk into another room and RJ says, Wow, aren't you stuck-up? WTH? I didn't even know him, he didn't know me! I later learned it's his nature to "mess" with people!

The very next day a blue Toyota pick-up pulls up into my cousins driveway, it was RJ. My cousin picks me up, throws me over his shoulder, carries me out to the pickup, throws me in and locks the door. And RJ drives off! Isn't that a form of kidnapping?!?!?!

We started dating about a month later, on March 21st, 1997 and we have been together ever since! If it weren't for the "kidnapping" I might have missed out on so many wonderful things. I can't imagine my life without him! He's a wonderful husband and a fantastic daddy. The kids and I are so lucky to have him.

I met my husband on the computer actually almost 14 years ago. We started dating and then within a month he moved out to Wa to be with me and 3 months later we moved back to Mi. We been together since had two wonderful daughter and actually got married in 2006 on his brother's birthday lol

When my nephew was a baby he was placed up for adoption by his mother (my husbands sister). When he became an adult he began looking for his family and spent a couple of years doing so. He continued his search until he found his grandparents and therefore found me and my husband. He did not have a good life in his adoptive family either so I have become his kind of surrogate Mother. He calls and talks to me about the problems he is enduring in Florida and most recently called me about splitting with his wife. He is an awesome person and has become a very good friend to me as well as another son to me.

I met my best friend at preschool even though we didn't really get to know each other really well till 3rd grade where we spent weekends at each other houses ... I was the one she called hen her husband proposed and I was there at her wedding and during the hard tines she went through after
She was there wen I lost a very close loved one we been through a lot together from preschool to elementary and high school even when she was away for a year out of the US we still kept in touch by phone calls and emails! She's been there for me when I was down and then again when I was happy! We get together as often as we can and now share our date stories of how crazy it is to date and find someone good enough for us ....
'Our friendship has survived those fights and it continues to grow as we do I'll follow her anywhere and always keep an eye out for my honorary nephew
Her friendship has meant the world to me guys come and go but friends are really there through it all is a great way of describing out relationship

I met my boyfriend in a college journalism class. We were both non-traditional students (the only two in that particular class) and happened to run into each other in the campus bookstore as we were both skipping the class field trip to the local newspaper! We ended up taking advantage of the day and going to lunch and an art museum, getting to know each other. Now it's almost two years later and we're still inseperable.

I meet my husband on the radio. He was the overnight dj here on a local station. We talked over many months on the phone. I would call and stay up all night talking to him and then we meet finally face to face and the rest worked out from there.
OMG< this is one of our favorite shows!! We both LOVE it.

So, the story of "How I Met Your Father" started when my two best friends both left me to go off to college up north. During their 2nd & 3rd years (one was a year behind the other), I went up north for the weekend, and we wound up at one friend's roommate's boyfriends apartment for a party.

We were all playing a drinking game called Presidents & holes, where your order in the lineup is determined by how quickly you ran out of cards the last time around.

Nick came in late, didn't know the rules (each round, the new President makes up a new rule, something sure to get you caught, and make you drink more- such as no swearing, no using someone's name, no ordering someone below you to drink, etc), and was quickly downing beers to catch up on the rules.

By the end of the night, he was kind of creeping me out, to be honest. He was touchy feely on my arms and back, and I was like, "Nope, gotta go."

Two weeks later, I went back up for a weekend break, and we hit it off a LOT better. From there on out, it was a series of late night drives back and forth to accommodate our work schedules, before I finally moved up there after Christmas. We've been together ever since!

Well, if heather posts, obviously the story's gonna be the same - so I'll keep it brief. Kinda funny - she was from another town, one of her best friends had a roomie who was dating one of my best friend's roomies when I was in college. Party at my friend's place, she came over, I hit on her... she was definitely not impressed. Next weekend, we were back at my buddy's place drinking beer, I was sore as heck from football, we got a call she was coming over again and I was gonna leave before embarassing myself again, and turns out she was much more receptive that weekend and we started to date, despite over an hour of distance between us geographically at the time.

My wife and I met in high school. I was 15 and she was 16 (always loved older women). My friend was going out with her and wanted to break up so he set us both up together so he wouldn't have to break up with her. That was 1972. We got married in 1981 and we are still going strong, albeit slower.
That is, how did you meet a loved one?:
I met my husband in a 3-2 bar. My Mom was a bartender & I would go to the bar once in awhile (never to drink) and hang out because I was bored. I would play dates, the jukebox & even cribbage if my Mom had the patience. Anyways, my husband used to be a drinker & I met him there, we would talk for a long time.
After awhile we ended up at the same job together, that is when we started seeing each other.

I met my hubby of 20 years through a personal ad that he ran in a magazine. I happened to be working at a marketing company and our client ran ads in the back of NY Magazine. I was there looking for our clients ad and saw my hubby's ad. It was very short and simple and I had to answer it. It read "Ramones Rule. Bowie's Cool. Jewish Guy Seeks Fair Lady" and a box number. I answered it. He called me 2 weeks later and we've been together ever since!

My husband and I love this show!

The summer after high school I was dating my "dream guy" that I had been crushing on since I was 13. My cousin knew we were together, but was constantly inviting me to her church to meet the pastor's son--he made her wedding cake and she was convinced we would make a good couple.

Eventually I became single so I did finally go to church with my cousin. We were sitting in Sunday School and the most good looking guy I had ever seen walked in. He stared at me the whole time, but never spoke one word to me! During church when the choir was singing, my cousin pointed out a voice that you could hear through the others, and said that voice (the pastor) would be my future father-in-law. I just rolled my eyes at her.

Just over a year later, the pastor married us and became my father-in-law! My husband also made our wedding cake. :)

Last week we celebrated our 4th anniversary and we have two handsome little boys.

I was in college, my roomate was mad over a new guy. I wasn't interested because I was mad over the guy I was dating. My roomate introduced me to the man of her dreams and I politely said hello and left to meet my guy. Several days later my guy dumped me. I was at a gathering of a friend and the "new guy" was there. Before I knew it my friend hatched a plan to set us up on a blind date. I agreed (my only blind date) even though I had met the "new guy" twice. We went on our date and as he walked me home to the dorm he kept telling his roomate he'd meet him in a few minutes. I figured he was bored so I quickly said goodby. I decided to not mope around and walked to the student union. There were a group of my male friends were there and vying for my attention because the word was out that I was available. It was a lovely evening being surrounded by a group of 5 - 6 cute, funny and smart guys. They all walked me home. Needless to say my spirits were pretty good as we approached my dorm there was the "new guy." I thought it was so sweet that he came back to see me. So I said good night to my male friends and walked up to the "new guy." From that time we were inseperable. (Later I found out he hadn't come to see me but was scouting out the ladies in the dorm. He was impressed that I left a group of guys to be with him.) We've been married over 30 years now after dating almost 4 years and have two grown daughters and one grandson.

My car broke down my first semester at college. I didn't know anyone in town yet to call for help except for my sister, whose phone number was busy, so I ended up asking a couple of guys for help. They couldn't get the car started, but kindly gave me a ride home. One of them gave me his phone number. I called him and we've been together ever since (nine years in October). The next day the car started right up like nothing had ever happened.

I met my husband at work, at Walmart. He was dating my friend and fellow co-worker and I was married at the time. We became friends and my marriage was rocky, his relationship was rocky. We started hanging out and became best friends very quickly. His relationship ended. My marriage ended. We got together and a few months later found out we were pregnant with our first child. We grow stronger and stronger as the years go by. Who else but your best friend should you have kids with and marry? He's still my best friend to this day, 2 children and 4 years later. We just got married this June.

My children's father was the security guard at the apartment complex I lived in. I had noticed him a couple of times and he me, but we didn't really 'click' until the night I lost my sister! Haha. She came over to stay the weekend with me and she had a real knack for getting into trouble. I went to the bathroom and when I came out she was gone! I looked at my then best friend and asked where Karra was "Oh, she went outside." I panicked and didn't even stop to put on shoes and a jacket. I ran up to Mark and grabbed his arm. "I lost my sister! I can't find her!" He sent me back to put on proper apparel for the weather and found my sister and a neighbor boy smoking behind the apartment building. I was so mad at her, but it ended up being the begining of a 4 year relationship between me and Mark. We aren't together anymore, but I still treasure how I met him.

I met my hubby way back before we ever even thought about dating. I was 4 and he was 5 and we attended the same Kindergarten. I was in his class all through gradeschool and in third grade I would sometimes walk home with him and his mother and we would play around and stuff.

His mother always knew that we would make a good couple and she knew he liked me, so she always told him that he should ask me out and he always brushed it off.

By the time we hit our junior year, we had been good friends for quite a while and he was one of my closest friends (we had a group of 4 friends....three boys and then me). I still had the biggest crush on him and I thought he liked me, but he never made any moves, so I got tired of waiting and went out with another guy.

Needless to say, that relationship didn't last more than two months before we broke up, but it was enough to make Jake really jealous. I finally decided I didn't have anything to lose, so I called HIM and asked him to the movies at the beginning of our senior year. :) He chose the movie, of course. Beowolf in 3D.

The rest is history, I guess. We're still the best of friends and I still can't stand Beowolf, whether it's in 3D or not! LOL.

I met Steve many many years ago...he was going to junior college with my first husband.....then I found out he had grown up with my 2nd husband......and well, he went to junior college with my 3rd husband as well.
he's always been around...he got together with my first husbands 2nd wife after they divorced so he was around with her a lot to still see the kids...

Mine wasn't very romantic. We were in several classes together in graduate school. We talked and were friends all year long. Then a week before school was out, we realized there were sparks. I've always said we did everything backwards.
That summer we both had jobs that worked 24/7. Whoever had the weekend off would trade for the week day shifts off for the other. He'd drive the 250+ miles and stay with my parents overnight. He had an old car covered with stickers that I didn't trust to even take us around my town, but he made it each week.
We got married at the end of the following summer.

This show is hilarious!! I met what I thought was the man of my dreams on April 1st when one of my friends insisted we go out for a drink. Boy, did I get fooled and the joke was on me!! He just wanted someone to pay his bills and help put him thru school and no responsibility. Moral to the story is "Stay at home on April Fool's Day or you may be made a fool of" (like I was!).

I went to school with my husband and I wanted to date him for like 3 years but he didnt like me. I am not married nor did I meet anyone in a spectacular way. But my parent's story is sweet. My Dad was a Air Force Lifetimer. He was put on suspension because he had gained too much weight. Apparently the mess hall wasn't very diet conscious back in those days. My Mother was working at the Officer's club as a bartender and was there the day he had been suspended, after talking she offered to cook for him and within six months they were married. It is true the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

I met my husband on a blind date where I was completely set up and had absolutely NO interest in dating. We were in a Mexican restaurant and I was caught completely off guard. He sensed that and patiently conversed via phone for the next couple of months before asking me out. We've been happily married for more than 20 years now.

I originally met my partner through my sister. He was involved with her boyfriends sister whom he would eventually marry. They married, he had joined the Army and they moved to Germany for a time during which I married my first mistake. When they came home they opened an A & W restaurant and they lived upstairs, my ex and I had dinner there with them which he does not even recall now. That would be the last time I saw him for 24 years. He divorced and moved to Phoenix, I divorced, remarried and had my son. After 20 years in that situation it simply fell apart and I found myself alone, back at my mom's and just lost. His younger brother had passed suddenly and he moved back to Michigan, at his mom's as well. My sister had Thanksgiving dinner at her home that year and we were both there and started talking. We decided to pool resources shortly thereafter, leave our old rooms at mom's behind and get our own place. The rest is history I guess, that must have worked okay as when his work calling brought him back to Phoenix where he'll likely remain I seem to have tagged along!

One night I received an email on a Christian dating site from a guy hundreds of miles away. I always checked that out because I only wanted friends. We were three time zones apart but on the site at the same time. His letter made me smile and, since he was so far away, I answered. It wasn't long before I was rushing home from work to see if he had written to me. We have been married for five years now. I guess hundreds of miles wasn't too far away for true love to bridge the gap.

in a club..I was seated at the bar and struck up a lively conversation with a
"gentleman " to my right who turned out to be married..his wife was seated next to him on HIS right...they were cruising for a third person to take home for some adult fun,I imagine..
across the bar was this handsome fellow who ,after watching the comedy unfold as I told the couple where to get off (no pun intended) stepped in and I ended up in his arms and still am..19 years later

I met my first love when I went ice skating. He came up to me and was cold I let him borrow my mittens. He went to a different school then I did. The next week I was very much surprised when he transferred to my school and walked into my French class and sat down next to me. He said "Bonjour Mademoiselle " and handed me back my mittens. Thus began a three year relationship. We ended up engaged but we broke up and went separate ways. Many years later we met once again when after 20 years he walked into my sister's store and asked for my phone number. We dated and were engaged once again, but things did not work out. We remain good friends till this day.

I work for a touring country band and was playing at a bar in central Texas called Floore's Country Store which is in Helotes, Texas. Many of you may know this bar as the place where Willie Nelson got his start. We had played there several times and there was one bar tender that always took care of us. Finally she got up enough nerves to ask me to hang out and 2 years later we are still together.

I met my hubby and kids' father when he was dating my best friend's mom. We became friends and when my abusive marriage broke up and their rocky relationship ended, we were there for each other. The rest is history and proof you never know where you'll find love - sometimes it's in a most unexpected place!

I met my BF when we were both looking to start a band together. Even though we didn't get together then, we remet at a mutual friends concert performance. It's all about the music baby!

I met my boyfriend through his cousin who lived in the same apartment complex as me. And then after awhile we realized that we knew a lot of each other's friends and family, just never met each other. Which is good because if I had met him when I was in school I wouldn't have talked to him. Hahahhaahhaah
