Many of you may have heard about NLP in combination with hypnotherapy. I decided to do some research on NLP to see if I could find more about it. I put together a little Q & A, to help answer any questions you may have.
What exactly is NLP? NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. NLP explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behavior (programming). In NLP you can learn how to manage your thoughts and feelings and how you can communicate with others.
Who invented NLP? John Grinder and Richard Bandler started Neuro-Linguistic Programming around 1974. Their studies produced a combination of cognitive and behavioral science. They produced a linguistic model that identified language patterns from individuals such as hypnotherapist Milton Erickson. In the 20+ years since it was first developed, NLP has grown and changed and continues to do so today.
How can NLP help me? NLP can help you with many different things. You can use NLP to change behaviors, so things such as smoking, biting your nails, wetting the bed, can all be cured. NLP also helps with other behaviors such as weight loss, anxiety, and more. Having NLP in your life will help you improve how you think and feel. NLP has been used successfully to increase productivity and efficiency in the Olympics, the US Army and even major international corporations. If you want to have more choices about your behavior and emotions, NLP can help.
How is NLP used with hypnosis? Just like hypnosis, or hypnotherapy, is used to help people conquer bad habits and resolve other issues of their lives, NLP can be used hand in hand with it to have more success.
How can I learn NLP? If you are interested in learning NLP to help others, you can take a professional training course. There are certification trainings offered from many places across the country.
I hope this Q & A has helped you realize how NLP and hypnotherapy can help you. I am still constantly learning more and more about the world of hypnotherapy and I am happy to share it with you.
