Butterflies, Bees, Bugs & Other Critters at Brookgreen Gardens

This past Friday I visited and joined Brookgreen Gardens located on Highway 17 in Murrells Inlet, SC. With the beautiful sunny day, there was plenty of wildlife enjoying the gardens. I was amazed at how much of it I captured in pictures.

This post is a collection of some of the wildlife photos taken during my most recent visit.

Look real closely at the center of the photo below and you'll see the little anole.

Sorry this is more photos than essay, but I've never claimed to be a writer. I like photography, not writing :-)

This looks like a nice place, and you and your new camera surely captured the best of it. These pictures were worth the sore muscles!

These were with the old camera. The only photos taken with the replacement camera (which is basically the same thing I had) were the birds this morning.

Marianne, this photo essay is a masterpiece ! Starting with the layout . It's hard to pick a favorite ,but I'll single out the Garden spider on the web ,The Butterfly on the pink nicotiana ,the Butterfly on the lantanna ,the camouflaged anole : ) ,but maybe the best the Dragonfly on the lovely coleus !

You have some great shots here. I almost missed the lizard, that caterpillar is so furry & cool looking & I love those huge spiders, they have the coolest webs. We would see a lot of them in Texas. My husband would take ants & toss them in the web & watch the spider quickly wrap the "food" up. Rather cool to see...you should try it & video it!

I've actuallyb caught video of a bee being wrapped up in one of those webs last summer. It is cool to see.

Wonderful photos. I spent the greater part of yesterday at the nature center and there was lots of ,almost frantic, activity in the butterfly garden.
