I have Vonage and absolutely love it. I can call any number in N. America and most numbers in Western Europe (including U.K.) for free as it it's local. I can call Moscow for 4 cents a minute. The problem with Skype is that it's no good interfacing with regular landlines.

I got it about 4 years ago and have kept my Arizona phone number (and area code). That's lots of fun with telemarketers and bill collectors...I'm 2500 kilometres from there and two time zones away (as well as in another country).

I have been curious about Vonage and if folks liked it, thanks Walker.

You should let the telemarketers and bill collectors know they are calling the other side of the world but not that it's Vonage - let them think they are calling long distance on the bosses dime that would give them a fright! LOL

I may do that. I love the service. It's inexpensive ($24/month), works anywhere in the world you have high-speed Internet. Has every "extra" that the landline carriers do (call waiting, call forwarding, voice mail, call blocking, etc.) tossed in for FREE. When I was in Arkhangel'sk, I took that with me and people could call me by dialing my local Arizona number.

I only make two long distance calls...one to Texas and one to Wisconsin. My Verizon Fios has free long distance. I can see if you make a bunch of long distance how this would be benificial. Thanks for the info!
