MOTHERGOOSE JUNKIE

jack and jill

went up the hill

to hide from the

video slaughter

they took a green pill

to find a quick thrill

and dizzy jill

came tumbling after

in a shabby hotel

they watched more tv

and saw the news

which was nasty

if a white girl is dead

then the time slot is fed

and shot jill

came tumbling after

terrified of waterpicks

they can't reach their minds

they just snored where the

flashlights don't shine

in wood chip dreams they slept

from the hallucinogen they took

to calm their hot bodies

jack didn't wake up

from the volcano's hiccup

and boiling jill

came tumbling after

the news kept on blaring

not saying anything

unless you needed a

new name for “antacid”

there was lots of sports butts

inaccurate weather for swim cups

and a shooting to make you

fear trips to your K Mart

ALICE IN HER OWN LAND

so they gave the girl some

on the tip of her tongue

and all she could do was stare

her thoughts wandered far to a tiny glass jar

where she saw a party raving so merry

then she went to a spot that looked fiery hot

seeming red like a sugary cherry

the voices grew loud and sounded quiet proud

because it was a proper celebration

she closed her fair eyes seeing fragrant dun skies

filled with confection icicle potpourri

The party got loud though she couldn't tell where

but it seemed to be very close by

it emerged out the door and across the floor

which amused her to judge and stupefy

"Oh where's the joy and whirl of nod

when cotillion occurs in the hallway?

Quadrille left and right,

whack your knees cause it's tight,

and ingest this tender stowaway."

she heard this glum news that she'd die in the pews

so she bolted upright and ran fast

but the shoe box was too dark to fly in like a lark

so she fell to her woolen afghan.

she couldn't remove her ring

so she slept there till spring

and became a poem in the graveyard

the relatives come and see

what she used to be

which was a sweet pretty fool thing.
