Wow...that's amazing!

The largest trout I have ever caught was 26.5 pounds, and I thought that was a monster.

Ha ha... I suppose. I don't think I've ever caught a trout over 5 pounds myself. On a fly rod, a 5 pounder feels like 100, LOL. I've never really fished any lakes for trout, just streams/rivers, but I've seen pictures of some pretty large Lake Trout. The Brown in this video blew my mind though, LOL.

WOW! 41 POUNDS? Damn! That took some skill to get that thing in, especially if he used the usual sized test line and hook that's used for trout fishing.

I wonder if the meat is tough or tastes like an older fish. Usually the larger the fish the stronger the taste...with fresh water fish anyways. Oh....the delishous meals I could make with all that meat :-)

Thanks LeeAnn. I bet it was a fight for sure. I wonder what it does taste like, but he probably will get it mounted instead? Normal sized(?) Brown trout is very good, LOL.

I think its a cross breed with a salmon "The brown trout is much more closely related to the Atlantic salmon than with either the charr or its US cousins. Indeed trout can (but only very rarely do) cross breed with Atlantic salmon. Scientists now agree that sub categories of brown trout (Ferox, Sea Trout, Bull trout, Alpine, Atlas and Marbled etc.) all belong to the same species."

Thanks for sharing the video. I saw the story in our local news (I'm from Michigan) but didn't see any video or anything about it.
The fish was caught up in the Manistee River, north of Grand Rapids. Our local news ran the story because the man who caught it is from Grand Rapids.

I can't even IMAGINE catching a fish that big. I wonder what pound line he was using?
I had something big on my life last time I went fishing and after fighting a few minutes my line snapped!! I think it was a big catfish on the other end and I'm just using a newbie pole with 4 lb. line. lol.

This fish was caught just outside of my hometown in Manistee, from the Manistee River. It's big news up here.

Great video of an awesome catch! Thanks for sharing, John! It did mention in the video where it was caught, but if you're not from Michigan it would have been easy to miss. Looks like Joy let you know where it was though so I won't repeat it. Thanks for sharing!
