There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Pigg. As a matter of fact there are 4,556 Piggs in the United States. On top of that there are 144 Piggies and a whopping 690 Piggees in this country as of the last census. Also, believe it or not, there are 900 people who go by the name of Pigman.
Not to be outnumbered by the Piggs, the Hoggs claim no fewer than 7,299 members.
Closely associated with Piggs and Hoggs is Pork, Bacon and Ham. While there are only 127 Porks in the U.S. the census shows no fewer than 29,312 Bacons, 15,843 Hams and 26,392 Hamms. In addition the census turns up 319 Hamlettes, which, possibly, is an abbreviation for Ham Omlette. Perhaps someone out there in Gatherland could enlighten us on that.
My big question is how did so many people come to be named after this common farm animal? If you are a Pigg or a Hogg yourself perhaps you can shed some light on this subject. Perhaps you have a friend or neighbor who sports one of these names. Maybe you went to school with a little Piggie, or to market with a little Piggee.
