I woke up with a headache this morning. David, poor thing, got cold and need to put something warmer on. All his bumbling around woke me up an hour before my alarm. I told him to close the window and then I tried to go back to sleep. I think I succeeded getting 15 minutes before my alarm went off. I'm almost grateful he woke me as I was having a dream in which I was failing English miserably! *shudder*
So off to class I went. Algebra started off with a quiz. There was a trick question on the quiz and I feel like such an idiot because I messed it up so bad and got it wrong. And then the last problem was a word problem and though I KNOW I got the equation correct I couldn't get the answer... basically I ran out of time. *sigh* so I know I've failed my first quiz. I'm miserable over this.
In English, we turned in our "excerpts" that we were to write. I can't wait to get the grade back on this. I think I did OK, after it's graded I'll share what I wrote -- with her comments. We also read a very short story in class. The story was titled "The Hand" and it was interesting story about a young bride and her thoughts on her husband's hand. The class then discussed the deeper meaning behind the story and what it all could possibly mean. OK this class is going to get seriously interesting over the next few weeks.
In history we covered the the hows and whys of the colony of Pennsylvania. We are going in more depth on this particular colony because it is our home state. The start of the Pennsylvania colony is very interesting and it was even written into the charter that it had to be named such after William Penn's father because the king wanted it so. William Penn was going to call it New Whales but the King wanted it the other way so that's the reason for why it's called what it is. The first settlement in PA was Philadelphia and it literally means "City of Brotherly Love" in Greek. I knew that was the nickname for the city, but I had no idea that it was a literal translation.

Your explanation of all the different class material is awesome. I think you should be a Professor when you finish your schooling. You have a wonderful knack of description that provides a picture that seems to roll itself out as you explain.
Funny about you reading a short story about a hand. The other day I was in the vehicle with Bill and he was driving us to an appointment. The sun was shining in on his bare forearm and hand and I noticed the hair on his arm was light red from being outdoors working. I was thinking it would make a great short story. How his arm looked so strong and made me feel safe.
So see? You will not fail even if you didn't get ALL the problem correct. You are doing beautifully!!
And I said so!
