Mrs. Mariah Ford lived in Johnson City, Tennessee. Johnson City is found in the northeastern corner of Tennessee, not far from the borders of Virgina, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
Johnson City is also near the cities of Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia.
Â
In June of 1910, Mariah received a postcard form her friend, Bertie.
Bertie was in Indianapolis, Indiana, and either returning home to Johnson
City, or beginning a visit with Mariah upon their meeting on Tuesday .
The postcard featured an illustrated motto regarding roosters who crow, and hens who quietly lay eggs.
