It Rained Today 9/11

It rained today.
The heavens opened up
and wept today for all
those left behind.
Parents that buried their
sons and daughters before their time
Fatherless children can still
hear the car pull up in the driveway
and forget for just a brief moment
in time….never again will the
front door bring homecoming joy
of the father they lost on that
September day
Faded memories and family photos
are all that are left of Mom.
The heavens opened up and wept today
for spouses and friends who long
for that embrace
just one more time
but never again
It rained today.

This is honestly one of the best 9/11 tributes I have read....and I've read a lot. I like the fact that it's focused on survivors who will live with the pain forever...the fatherless children whose hopes are raised everytime someone pulls in the driveway. That's a very direct and moving combination of words. You have so many talents. Please keep developing the. You also have a wonderful heart and I think life has something special in store for you!
