Steph-In-Ne one of my friends here at Gather and hopefully here in RealityLand sent me this email last week. It asks that I send it to some of my friends through email, but all of my 'puter friends are here at Gather....
and I know I will reach more than the 11 people I was asked to contact...
enjoy the Rick Derriger song I added at the end too...
Today is Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friend’s and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.
The Plan of Action :
So, here's what we need you to do.
(1) Forward this email to everyone you know (at least 11 people). Please don't be the one to break this chain. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.
(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.
Thank you for your participation. God Bless You and God Bless America !

I am a Real American.......
When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside
you gotta take a stand it don't help to hide
if you hurt my friends then you hurt my pride
i gotta be a man
i cant let it slide
Chorus
I am a real American
fight for the rights of every man
I am a real American
fight for what's right
fight for your life
I feel strong about right and wrong
and i don't take trouble for very long
Ive got something deep inside of me
courage is the thing that keeps us free
Repeat chorus x 2
If you hurt my friends then you hurt my pride
I gotta be a man i cant let it slide
Repeat chorus x 4 til fade

I would think acting civil toward other Americans, and other human beings, would better display to others and the world what should be in our hearts than spending money on a flag.
I'm a long distance bicycle rider. The summer of 2002, most of those 'car window flags' lay in the dirt on the side of the road, their glory and pride forgotten.
When I was a kid in ninth grade, back in the 60's, I tore the seat of my pants. I hurriedly patched them with all I had -- an American flag. I was prompted kicked out of school, a ban on wearing any American flag quickly passed the school board. We wore flags, en force. Hey, it was the 60's.
Today, I see people with head-rag American flags, wiping their sweat, American flag design underwear, American flag ponchos torn off by rock stars and thrown to the ground.
All I wanted to do was fix my pants. But, to all the people wearing flags today, and even blowing their noses in their American flag hankies --
You're welcome.
this kind of sounds like something I started on somebody else's post....
I just posted an essay A Civil Society, you may like.
As for 9/11, I feel way too many people made much too much hay over the disaster. Much money was to be made and the people in place didn't hesitate to capitalize.
now this is just about remembering what happened on that day......
I don't even want to get into the who may have been more benefitted by the action, because you don't even want to know my take on it....
Pastor Jones, in the middle of his sermon, jumps prostrate to the floor, slamming his forehead onto the carpet: "Oh, Lord! I am nothing before you!"
Deacon John follows, his forehead whacking the floor: "Oh, Lord! I am nothing before you!"
Old Pete jumps from his pew, goes to his knees, puts his forehead on the floor. "Lord! I am nothing before you!"
Deacon John snickers at Pastor Jones: "Look who thinks he's nothing!"
I don't habe a flag Randee...it was stolen.
i do regret that i am angry about some aspects of 911-I feel desensitized. I only pray that something like that never happens here again. I also think the wars need to end. peace my friend.
I think you and I have trhe same opinion of the who....and nobody else is even close....
chaos 101---be the first to accuse..........
The good news is statistically you have a better chance getting hit by a meteorite that getting hurt in a terrorist attack.
I wish we, as a nation, would work as hard at peace as we do war, so something like that doesn't have to happen anywhere. However, working for peace is not respected like 'bring it on' and 'kicking ass.' Our society is still ruled by the Cowboy Mentality. Might makes right. Peace through slaughter is respected. Peace though compromise is seen as weak.
"If I befriend my enemy, and I not destroying an enemy?" Abe Lincoln.
The sad fact is, Americans love their dramas.
more like the attitudes of the hords and barbarians that brought down the last civil civilization..........
as in a scifi novel....that dream cannot be attained until the last big war...the one's that are left will have no other alternative then.......
What should we do, how shall we react when slapped in the face?
In a tradition loosely referred to as witchcraft (which is not a religion, by the way. If it were, it'd be called witchreligion, not witchcraft) this is called the circle of manifestation. The circle will manifest with the same energy fed into the circle.
You slap me.
I slap you.
You slap me.
I slap you.
We -- meaning human beings, have this genetic drive, making us think we must win. If we lose, if we back down, someone we lose something. The circle of manifestation will never change until someone chooses to put something different in the circle.
Like the other cheek.
When trapped in a circle like this, we can't see what we're doing and what's driving us, Darwin on our back like heron addiction.
Making war is easier than making peace because making war is our nature. Even as our nature, it's still a choice.
And, the only thing we really have control over is our self.
but the truth frees us all..............
or at least keeps me busy not doing revengeful things....
The other meaning of ego is an exaggerated sense of one's worth/self. It's this ego that drives us to revenge, to get even. Someone cuts us off on the highway, we have to get even, giving them the finger -- it's a natural response. It doesn't get us even, only in our own ego.
In my not-so-humble opinion, I feel it takes more courage to walk away from a fight than to throw fists. We're not in the old west, after all. When it comes right down to it, what's really worth fighting about? Someone calling us a name? Someone cutting us off in traffic?
In the year 2009, we should be evolved human beings, not angry apes peeing on the trees, posturing with threatening faces at interlopers.
hehehe.......
Reasonable antagonism is good. We should always question what we don't know for sure and most of what we know, we don't know for sure.
However, spiteful antagonism meant to merely give people a hard time is something to avoid.
Convention should and must be challenged.
thanks for stopping......
;)
Go out the door looking to help someone. Being of service to mankind, I call it. This comes from my question: If you were God, would you measure someone's righteousness by the amount of time he praised you, or by the way he treated others -- your creation?
Do something good for someone today, even if that someone is you.
it's one of my callings..............
but I read, I just cannot believe everything I'm told....
that goes back to the Nixon set up and fiasco......
we don't see people running to somewhere else.......
for those, the people and their loved ones.....
today in the kiddie parade they did a moment of silence,, it was wierd, no one spook,
