Oh, how I relate. Like tonight for instance, I do not want to sleep, but I know I must sometime. Some of my dreams would scare the hell outta Stephen King. I have just recently decided to write down some of them and use them as writing tools, so HA dreams, I have a bit of control.

Excellent! I can relate. I've been having nightmares and weird dreams lately. Sleep is not so appealing, but I feel unrested during the days.

Beats me. Maybe it's subconscious fears brought on by our failing economy and chaotic political activity? Whatever it is, I am not sleeping well and it's taking a toll.

Many of us can feel that vague sense of unease...sometimes it does permiate itself into our dreams. Cant quite achieve that level of relaxed copmfort in order to fall into a deep sleep. There is something out there calling, but we don't understand the call or how to respond.

I suffer from insomnia as well, have my entire life, even childhood. It's not that I dream unwanted dreams, I just can't, and don't want, to sleep! I'm batty, nothin' new about that, lol!

Beautiful work. I can really relate to it. It seems like sleep is something like relinquishing power and control. I think I miss the childhood days when sleep was something I went into blissfully. Oh how things have changed. Peace

When I go without sleep, I feel like I could keep going, and my mind alternates between ditzy and sharp...

As far as talent, I'm just glad I had time to let the muse whip me a little. lol She's at me again to do more this week, but I'm so friggin' busy, I don't know when I'll get to it.

I think dreams can be a source of wisdom and strength-- have you tried to analyze them?

I even bought '10,000 dream Interpretations' a few years back... I kept having nightmares about being in a tornado. lol

But I know what most of my recent ones are.... What I've been writing about has manifested itself into some uncomfortable dreams, reminding me of the people I knew, and presenting them to me in real time so that I'm put on the spot to say what I always wanted to say to them, and never did. I think they're either about non-closure, or repressed emotions... you know, emotions like admitting that some things still hurt.
But I do find that most days I dream, it's about something on my mind, but that's not always a bad thing. It's just not having control over what I see in them that bothers me.

Thank you, Sharon. I've gotten used to the patterns of how my dreams invade my mind. Most of it's based on anxiety and worry, of that, I'm positive. If it's interrupting my sleep, I'll just sleep whenever I can, and I don't worry about it, but writing about it helps too.

I take Ambien! And, a bit of Indica, but the important dreams still make it through!
I can't take anything for sleep, it doesn't help me sleep properly, and I end up sleeping too heavily, or wake up groggy. I know it helps a lot of people, and I'm glad it works for you.:)

I have been having some pretty weird dreams lately too. Can't remember them when I wake though - only know I'm uncomfortable.
I have days where I can't sleep and have no clue why.
Part of my troubles, I believe, are my years of working third shift. It takes a pretty unique person just to survive on that shift, let along years of it. Also I have always been a night person - mom always had a heck of a time getting me up for school. And I hated the years I worked 1st shift - was like a zombie until 11:00 or so - everybody knew to stay away until I'd had at least my first pot of coffee.
Yeah, I've always been a night person, even when I had a regular day schedeule... I totally sympathize with you in the late shift zone... my schedule is rarely the same, and a lot of times, I'll just stay up, even if I'm tired. I can't really make myself do it, my body seems to just know when it wants to do it, and I'm sort of at its mercy.... but that DOES bring on a lot of weird dreams too. Jan S. said she's been having weird dreams lately.... perhaps it's armaggedon? lol I wouldn't surprise me..........

Have we not been here before? The whole Mercutio's rant thing, "Dreams are the children of an idle brain...". Somewhere there is a fairy midwife, nutshell carriages and agates bones. Great poem. The exasperation comes through loud and clear. Well done. Maybe you could put yourself to sleep with a nerf sledgehammer. That ought to do the trick. Dreams are only dreams. The mind is still working, freed from all but autonomous responsibilities and fully open to the subconscious that must be screened out in order to function in day to day life. Try this, put the thought in your mind that it will recognize itself dreaming and strive for lucidity within that dream. You can do it, not control the dream per se, but guide it.
Yes, only dreamers lie, or something like that. :) When most people fall asleep, it's like cutting off the television.... for me, it's just changing the channel. I have learned how to guide certain thoughts, and it has served me well, but sometimes.......... sometimes the knob falls off and I have to be subjected to programming I don't want to see until I can find a pair of pliers to change the damn channel.

Ferosh - Very enchanting and beautiful poem - crisp and literally projecting a positive frame of mind. Even so, the lines betray some form of weariness of mind unable to remove a thorn of a dilemma that is pricking constantly. A mind full of yearning for a life of happiness and peace.
