How will you remember 911?

I worked a night shift and put my baby down with me. When I awoke and turned on the TV, and realized it had happened, I was in tears. My baby would turn 2 in exactly a week, I wondered what kind of world I had brought her into. =(
We will say a prayer for those that lost their lives and loved ones and just be thankful for our family.

I did it for him and those fighting,,,

I lost someone I knew well enough at the second towers. God rest his soul.

I was dating my hubby and we just got together after I took the kids to school we were watching the news, when this all happen, it seem so unreal...

Sad for those who lost friends and family.

My flag is already on my porch, it's out most of the year. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed already. I remember it like it happened yesterday....we were having new bedroom carpet installed that morning and I was watching The Today Show. I remember the carpet installers coming out and watching the TV with us......Prayers for all those who lost loved ones that day and for those injured.

My flag is out and I will wear Red, White and Blue. God Bless the folks and their families that lost their lives in that tragic occurance. May God Bless the men and women and their families that continue to fight for our freedoms!!

Interesting enough when we made our trip out to see the shuttle go up, I got talking to a man whose name was John, who was a pipe fitter who had helped in the clean up. I could feel the impact being there and working in the tragic sight still had on him. We talked a bit waiting on a pier with many others. My husband was busy comparing notes with the friends that he had gone there with. When the shuttle flight was cancelled we all were in the last of the people leaving the pier as it started pouring rain.

Imagine my surprise when I was watching something on tv about 911 a few weeks ago and there was John, the pipefitter who had helped out at the twin towers after the tragedy on on the documentary which was on the illnesses suffered by those who had helped out..... I almost fell off my chair, I did not expect to see him on the documentary...as there were so many people involved in helping out... I had no idea I would ever see him again, let alone on tv

My husband has photos he took when it was being built and we both had been in the buildings many times over the years. When he worked for the stock market, the company he worked for had their Christmas parties for the employees kids in one of the towers.

I watched what happened on tv and it seem incredulous. What a horror, yet so many people I know and am related to were able to survive who were in that area that day.

Still so hard to believe that it happened. It really changed everyone in America that day.

The last time we were in the towers was about 6 or 7 months before. We had gone on a trip to Manhattan for my husband to take a class for IBM there. We went to the building to go up to the observation deck and found it eerily empty. Because it was snowing out, they had shut down early for the night. The guard was very nice and we promised our two younger children we would bring them back again on our next trip to New York...but that was one promise we could never keep, as those buildings we thought would be there forever, were forever gone.

I doubt I will do anything. I don't like to think about such sadness.

My flags fly all year round. I remember that horrible day well. I was at work when one of the other housekeepers came to the apartment I was in, and said to turn on the tv! As soon as the tv was turned on the second plane hit. As I watched this, I turned to my friend and co-worker, what is this a movie? With tears in her eyes, she said my God no! We have just been attacked on our own soil. I watched those towers go up from my bedroom window, as a child growing up in North Jersey. Every few days the crane that sat upon those towers rose higher and higher. I was watching history being made. Never would I dream I would witness history being made with those same towers, in the way that I did. I saw a part of my childhood being erased in the most horrific way one could imagine. The fear that gripped the nation, could be felt, everywhere you turned. Even teenagers, whose only interest was whens the next party, and what the lastest videos that were out, even took note and became silent as the tears flowed.
Shortly afterwards, with the news buzzing about 24/7 about the attack, came a broadcast, that they were trained in a pilot school in the very town I lived in. (I lived in Fl then) I caught that broadcast while shopping in Wal-mart after work to pick up a few items. They showed where they were living. A woman behind me looking at the large TV screens, as we all where ,exclaimed, Oh My God! They lived across the street from me!
I don't know if my work will observe a moment of silience or not, as there has been no announcement to that effect. If not I may just take one of my own and say a prayer.
Behind my computer, on the wall, I still proudly display a picture of the towers, as they looked in their glory, before that fateful day. I have not forgotten, nor will I ever!

Hi, I will be remembering the towers, but I will also be remember running from my house with the windows exploding and the flames.

My pup woke me up in time to exscape. It will be 1 year, tomorrow. I might spend the day in tears.

I wave our flag all year. I remember that day and I think everyone else will too. I took my kids to school that day. I was about to leave when my mother called and said tell them to turn on the tv. So, I told the front office to turn their tv on, something bad happened. They did and saw a repeat of the first plane hitting the tower. We thought, ok, someone accidently hit the tower in their small plane. So, I left and headed home. When I got there, my mom said come down stairs. My father and I came down stairs and saw the second plane hit the other tower. We all just sat there in silence, then they hit the Pentagon and the other in a field in Penn. I couldn't believe that this was happening. I went and took my kids out of school and stayed home. We were so scared, not just because were are being attacked on our soil, but that they grounded all planes. That day they said all planes need to land NOW or be shot down. We lived next to a Naval and Air Force base, hearing those jets and a sonic boom. There were so many planes up in the air that day trying to land but had to circle and circle. We thought, oh my god, if they shoot them down, those people in the planes and on the ground. Everyone got scared by that.
Later that week, my father saw the picture of those men. He yelled out loud saying, "OH MY GOD! Those 3 men there were at Food Lion last week getting can goods." He called the FBI and found out that they were here, passing through. They were going up the coast to Washington D.C. to the airport. Then one of my customers came in to buy a dress, her son was in one of the Towers, worked on the top floor. I just hope something like this never happens again here on our soil.

My son remembers it as never having a birthday party again....he was in 3rd grade at the time. His birthday is Sept. 10th, which was a Scout night. We planned the party for the evening of the 11th....and of coarse, it never happened. The store never even finished making his cake.

He has only ever had 1 party...back in 1st grade. He turned 16 yesterday.
